Visited this camp late Jan to early Feb 2023. Can’t say enough positive things about the instructors, boat drivers, and the photographers. The atmosphere they cultivate is one of pure fun and positive learning. This is my second Costa Rican surf camp. The first one was in Nosara and I was VERY impressed with them. But after a week with the Witch’s Rock camp, I think they are even better. Went to Tamarindo with a buddy on a guys’ trip and it was probably the most relaxed, fun vacation I’ve ever had. We ended up with rooms at the Pueblo Dorado hotel because the main hotel was full, but honestly that was probably quieter with a better pool area. Pueblo Dorado is not fancy but it’s clean and the staff are super friendly, helpful and warm. At that time of year it was mostly adults early 30s to mid 50s but there were a couple families in the camp. From what I saw the camp did a great job with the few very young kids in the camp, although I’m not sure I will bring my family to Tamarindo only because it seems a little more geared towards adults compared to Nosara. But then, I wasn’t in Tamarindo at spring break like I was in Nosara. So it’s not really a fair comparison. The camp itself clearly made the families and the kids feel included. All the kids received an award on awards night and had their moment in the spotlight, which was very positive and fun. For me this camp felt like the adult version of summer camp with lots of great instruction and fun meeting the other people in the camp. Very social and fun. The included breakfast and the staff at that restaurant were great. The board selection was above average and taking the boat to the break was a luxury I’ve never had before. If I don’t come back with my wife and kid, which I might, I’ll definitely come back on a guy’s trip. Hoping to recruit even more of my buddies. – via
