Took my regs to Wirral sports to be serviced. My regs were in very poor condition they said, full of sand, water and corrosion. Service cost me £83.00 and look what they’ve done to my regs (see photo). They’ve gouged a groove in the end cap on the 1st stage. Not what I would call a “professional” job. Don’t know how the next serviceman is going to remove the end cap, with difficulty I suspect
Also, don’t understand why the regs were in such “poor condition” since wirral sports last serviced my regs 3 years ago and I’ve only done 50 dives with them since.

Changed my opinion of Wirral sports. After seeing my review they contacted me and offered to put it right. The damaged end cap was replaced FOC and the regs readjusted. Can’t thank them enough for what they did..
Still don’t understand how water got into my 1st stage causing so many problems, however it may have something to do with 1st stages having DIN fittings. DIN 1st stages have a wide orifice which makes them prone to the ingress of water.
Note that if water gets into your 1st stage, it is likely to end up in both your second stages and SPG as well, and in the long term, causing corrosion and extensive damage to your regs. – via
