Danke Sam – via

I am a British guy who was on holiday recently in Rhodes with my family. Myself and my 11 year old daughter have been training in England through The Hull Dive Centre Ltd PADI 5 star dive centre for our PADI Open Water Certification.
We recieved excellent training and i was ready to sit my four open water examination dives just before our family holiday. But postponed due to being away.
Whilst in Rhodes I came across Waterhoppers PADI 5 star diving centre and started chatting with one of the divers about my aspirations and what training I had done. She suggested possibly getting a referral from my instructor Paul back home and that Waterhoppers could take me out for my exam dives. I called Paul immediately, as what could be better then sitting your exams in Rhodes, right? Paul was more than happy to refer me to Waterhoppers due to their excellent reputation. So my Waterhoppers experience began.
Waterhoppers, well, what can I say. You were great. Your staff were friendly, extremely helpful and bent over backwards to help me succeed. I was assigned a one to one instructor named Brooke. Brooke was very patient, fun loving and thorough with her professional assessment of my capabilities. My four dives were so very different each time as Brooke wanted me to experience the local underwater sights to the best I could. After completing my exam exercises on each dive, Brooke took me around different routes and rock formations and pointed out some amazing sea life and ancient artifacts that were in the area.
My most treasured experience was being taken wall diving on my third dive to a depth of 16 to 18 meters in the Ladiko Bay. It was mind blowing. Lionfish, spikey sea urchins, tuna, wrasse, sea cucumbers, needle fish and moray eels. What more can you ask for in an exam situation. Brooke was very informative and took time out for me to look around, seek my own views and point out dangers.
In a nut shell, between, The Dive Centre Hull Ltd and Waterhoppers Dive centres excellent services, I am now a qualified open water diver.
A massive thank you to Waterhoppers for your expert advice, your professional set up, your friendly and knowledgeable staff and most of all, to Brooke, who took great thought and care into making my open water dives the best experience I could have ever wished for.
Anyone wishing to train in Scuba whilst in Rhodes on holiday or even a day out snorkelling, I could not recommend Waterhoppers highly enough.
Keep up the good work guys – via

Gute Instruktion in mindestens 4 Sprachen. Phantastische Unterwasserwelt. Danke, gerne wiedereinmal. – via

So found ‘A full day of scuba diving’ via ‘Viator’ a website for experiences.
The wording and description was misleading to myself as expected a full day of scuba diving.
The staff were lovely and you felt well looked after as had a lot of one on one supervision. Myself and my partner were picked up from our hotel and returned for €16 euros altogether which was great.
We were picked up at 7.15am.
On arriving to the boat as I said the staff were lovely. We set sail about an hour after arrival as a lot of others coming on board.
During the sail to the area we were to be scuba diving we were given a briefing by Michael explaining how to scuba dive and what sea life we could potentially see.
We were told that we would be having a 20 minute scuba dive. After that if we wanted to have another 20 minute scuba diving session we would need to pay €35 euros per person, they said we could put our names down incase we wanted the second dive but to let them know as soon as possible if we did not want this.
*Please note they did also give information for those who wanted to do more diving for further experience or fun and they also help with those who want a PADI certificate in which to enable you to dive anywhere in the world- this could be started on the day itself and they did offer discounts*. We couldn’t do this due to not having the money to do so.
We were also told they would be taking photos of us while scuba diving and to purchase these after they would be €20 euros altogether but if you are alone as one person €15.
We were given a group number and our group started around 10.30am. Staff helped us into wetsuits and the scuba diving gear. Once in the water we had some time to practice getting use to going under the water with the mouth piece and then we went scuba diving.
The scuba dive was good but when going under into the water I felt the 20 minute time we had underwater scuba diving was spent us posing for photos rather than actually being able to look at what was around us in the sea. Fish were seen but I didn’t feel there was any encouragement or the staff pointing sea life out for us to look at.
So that felt disappointing and that’s what put myself and my partner off going for a second dive. The staff were lovely though and were close on hand for anything at all. There were plenty of staff in the water for any problems and that was amazing especially for confidence and support.
We were told there were drinks and food on the boat but didn’t have these. They also showed us the scuba diving photos we could purchase but due to the cost we didn’t purchase them.
After this it was a bit disappointing. As written above we had been told we could have a second dive if we payed for this at €35 euros each. We were also aware we could use the snorkel equipment on the boat that they provide. If you didn’t want to do either then you waited on the boat till you could be returned to the shore.
Myself and my partner enjoy snorkeling so we chose to spend a good hour snorkeling around the boat and enjoyed ourselves a lot. We saw a lot of sea life just by snorkeling so would definitely recommend people to do this.
We then returned to the boat and waited to be transferred to our hotel about 3pm.
On the viator’ website it says its a 9 hour day so probably from start to finish from our hotel to the boat and back took about 8 hours. Which was fine for us just again not as described on the website.
Overall it was a lovely day for us but felt if we didn’t want to go snorkeling after scuba diving or didn’t have the confidence to do so we would have had a 20 minute scuba dive and the rest of the time would have been spent sitting on a boat waiting around to go back to the shore a lot of which other reviews wrote about.
We spent £119 for two tickets (£59.50 each) for the whole experience via ‘Viator’. We could see where this money went: running the boat, staff and diving equipment. Just felt disappointed by the 20 minutes of scuba diving when we were expecting more scuba diving from the websites description of the experience. – via

Not recommended for beginners as one of the instructors is not great with supporting new divers or people that are not diving in a regular base. You had to do it all on your own and I had to ask for help. He partnered me with someone I don’t know and was grumpy about him not helping me to put on my equipment. He forgot I’m a client on vacation and it’s ok if I Dont feel comfortable asking a stranger for help. I’d expect the club to help me (at least that’s how it was for in the past) .
Bug problem- in the water I realised my depth gauge was not working. The instructor just said – “that’s why you need a diving watch” and “it’s always like that, they never work”. When I said “no one told be I must bring a diving watch on the emails” he had another smart answer “well I did not email you” as if this is another company I’m dealing with. For me it was the first time I dived with a broken depth gauge which is the only thing you can’t check outside the water. I expected him to acknowledge and take responsibility but nope. If I wasn’t a confident diver, with a group of experienced divers, I’d be terrified. The diving instructor was very blunt and not supportive (far from what the reviews here suggest, although, TBH, the other instructor, for the less experienced divers, seems completely different)
This club could use a bit of service awareness training… – via

They were so skilled at adapting the right level of support to each person – I was very nervous beforehand but can’t wait now to do it again – loved it ! Thanks to all the staff and big thanks to Simeon for his patience – via
