My partner and I completed our open water certification with Turtle Bay Divers in June 2023, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Our diving instructor, Yaakub, who also happens to be the owner, made the course truly memorable.
Yaakub is not just an excellent instructor; he’s genuinely personable. From our first meeting, his friendly and easygoing demeanor put us at ease. Throughout the course, his kindness and patience made learning to scuba dive stress-free. His wealth of knowledge about diving and marine life added excitement to every lesson.
It’s evident that he loves what he does. During our dives, he took the time to point out marine life, especially his favorite, the juvenile boxfish, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to our underwater adventures.

We choose Turtle Bay because of its good reviews and damn they did not disappoint. We went for the PADI Open Water Course with the free fundive. Our instructor Aniq knew perfectly what he was doing and kept us entertained while staying professional. Under water he took the time to point out all marine life of interest and gave us the opportunity to get in some lovely dives throughout the course.
Can’t say anything negative about our time there. If you’re in doubt where to do your PADI course in Perhentian Islands, go for Turtle Bay! – via

Overall, this is an awesome dive shop – great instructors, staff, and other divers I’ve met through the shop. I completed both my (Open Water) OW and Advanced Open Water (AOW) certifications with them. For my OW, I took their hybrid course. Matt and Cheryl always took their time explaining how to do everything and the intent of each skill; there was also ample time to master each skill. I had Beth as my instructor for a couple AOW dives and that was an equally great experience. Finally, I received numerous excellent dive site recommendations. I would highly recommend taking a course from them or stopping by the shop for any other needs. – via

Completed my open water diving license only because Yaakub, the manager of Turtle Bay’s was so accommodative and kind so as to re-open up my account with PADI as I was unable to complete it from before. They have got some amazing instructors like Azwan and Gan who are very patient and cater to every student’s different pace of learning. Highly professional and encouraging in a sense they let you take your time with learning buoyancy and being more confident underwater. Thank you for the effort and kindness. Unforgettable experience. We got our Scuba Diver Licence with them. Before coming Yaakub gave us the chance to do e-learning at home and he was very keen on explaining how would the course be. All the staff is really helpful. We did many fun dives and all the divemasters were very knowledgeable, professional, following all the PADI procedures. My 11 year old daughter just completed her open water diver course with Turtle Bay Divers. Azwan was an excellent instructor. He was thorough, patient, and fun. He kept his eye on the depth limitations for a junior diver and kept my child safe so she could enjoy the experience of learning to dive. My daughter says Azwan deserves 20000 stars! – via
