Our middle child had the opportunity to have a group dive lesson with the owner of the shop. This was arranged by my sons Aviation Explorer Club Leader. Our son is a smaller 7th grader, in the 8th percentile for weight and 10th for height. It was pre-arranged that there would be equipment small enough for him. When we arrived, there were relentless jokes made by the owner about how little he was. “I could jerk him all around the shop” as he told the other kids how not to be like my son while the owner jerked on the vest to make sure it was secure. “I don’t think you could be any smaller”. Then he said he would have to use a tank “we usually reserve for the girls”. The comments wouldn’t stop, one right after the other. In front of the other kids. My heart sank lower and lower. How could a grown adult man be so harsh. My son is sensitive about his size and weight and we are doing our best to work through it with our pediatrician. I will NEVER recommend this dive shop to anyone for any reason!!! I had to give it a star just to write a review but it doesn’t deserve that. It takes a very low person to demean a child. – via
