We finished our open water certification with Bruce. He was amazing, knowledgeable, and patient! We loved all of the staff but have to give a special shout out to our bomb Captain Ani for her insight and making sure we were all informed and felt safe!!! P.S. I did my PADI Open Water Certification dives with Tarpoon on St Patrick’s Day, and choosing them felt like I truly had the luck of the Irish on my side!! I can’t imagine a better experience. Betty, my instructor, was amazing. She was nice, patient, funny, and best of all, a great instructor. I thoroughly enjoyed the dives and required PADI training. Everyone at the shop was knowledgeable and friendly as well. It was just me and one other student the whole time, and the certified divers on the boat were also a small group, so the dive sites are never too crowded. Will 100% return to Tarpoon the next time I dive in Miami – via

In short:
Great little dive shop that goes above and beyond and works with very high quality, skilled, and personable dive guides! They do charge per person for a private guide unlike some other tours in the area, but their guides are fantastic and worth every penny!

In long:
Had 2 days of wonderful diving with Tarpoon and their guides.

The shop was easy to work with, answered all our questions and were incredibly friendly and fun to work/talk with. Additionally, they were willing to put my Air2 hose on their rented regulator so I could use my new BCD! No other shop on this trip has been willing to do this. They do charge per person for a private dive guide which was a minor surprise and can make them a little more expensive than other tours if you need a guide. That being said, their guides are very worth it! You can read about our guide experience below.

Our dive guide for both days was Charles and he went above and beyond for our dives, even getting some photos and video of us at Neptune memorial reef with his own camera. He took time to run me through some skills I wanted to practice and made sure we saw everything there was to see at each or our dive sites. We never felt rushed, felt very safe, and he taught us a lot about each site. Would happily dive with him again any day. – via

Upfront, the 3 star rating istn’t for the diving, as I’m sure it’s pretty cool with Tarpoon. No, I can only rate my experience. I booked a tour, but got sick and had to cancel. There was no refund, which I understood, as I cancelled on the day of the dive. However, they offered me to go with them on a dive another day. I contacted them the following day to arrange a new dive. Unfortunately they never got back to me and didn’t respond, so I am not sure how serious that offer really was. – via

Great dive trip. Everyone was professional. Boat staff was great. Guides were great. They even took care of cleaning the rental equipment afterwards. They just asked us to put it in a wagon when we got off the boat. Can’t wait to dive again. – via

Just wanted to give a great shoutout to this awesome dive shop that is obviously loved by locals. Went out on an early morning wreck dive and Shane at the shop made sure I was settled in with parking tips, good gear and everything I needed before the dive. Belcher and Biscayne wreck dives didn’t have a dive master included but after good info from long time divers on the boat and the boat crew, it was totally manageable without one as it was easy to navigate at the bottom of the mooring line. Saw a huge stingray at Biscayne, plus lionfish and a moray eel hiding in the wreck and would definitely go back. Extra shoutout to Shane for taking care of parking miscommunication! Highly recommend this friendly shop that treats you like family. – via

Thanks for a great time as always. Went out with this shop last year and they provided the same great service. Quick boat ride to the dive sites and with great support on and off the boat. Looking forward to coming back soon. – via
