Update: Jake is a not what I thought, turns out he screwed the original owners who had made a deal regarding the sale of Sports Cove. His shenanigans drove the owners to go out of business. Another local icon gone.
I left it at 5 stars because the business and team at what used to be Sports Cove were friendly, outgoing and wanted to make sure you had what you needed! I’ll miss the Sports Cove. – via

Update: Jake is a not what I thought, turns out he screwed the original owners who had made a deal regarding the sale of Sports Cove. His shenanigans drove the owners to go out of business. Another local icon gone.

I will no longer recommended this business. Think of this place as a used car lot with junk cars and the unethical car sale man. They will sale you used products and say they are new. I went on a dive vacation with this place and nothing was how they said it would be. It was a total nightmare. We were supposed to get a photo class with our trip it never happened. We did not do the dives sports cove and Jake Chase the owner had promised. Throughout the trip we had to watch Jake verbally assault his staff which was super uncomfortable. Jake is super demeaning to women and I will never go here again. I have given him multiple times to deal with the way he handled the trip and he has not responded once. I would be so careful booking with Jake and his shop. – via

There are not too many scuba, water and winter sport specialty stores around like before. But lucky for us here in Solano and neighboring counties, our Sports Cove in Vacaville is still here after many years and now under new management with a new look. My family and I have visited similar stores as far as Florida, North Carolina, Virginia and even Japan. But I must say that the feel that I got from Jake and his crew is worth writing about. I came to Sports Cove last February because my daughter dreamed of getting PADI scuba trained and certified. There was a delay of course because of the pandemic. But as soon as they opened, the staff at Sports Cove got us back in motion. Eric and Lucy are very knowledgeable and accommodating. We always have wonderful conversations with them that the next thing you know an hour has already passed. Young Jake and Mason are very helpful and always offer to help me carry my gear. Don’t mind them if you see these two guys covered in paint – they are also busy making the store look awesome. Our dive instructors Brad and Dan are a dynamic duo. We learned so much from them but also made the training really fun and memorable. You know they are good instructors when your teenager continues to talk about what she learned and gets critical on what she needs to improve on. Jake of course runs the show and he really takes time to listen and address your plans. Honestly, talking to Jake is like hanging out with a cool uncle who runs a sports shop. It’s this family-like welcome you get from the Sports Cove staff that will make you want to come back. Their sale and rental inventory are reasonably wide and obviously they will carry more items as they move forward. Yes, you can always purchase your gear on-line or some other super store with a gamble. But if you want quality gear, a sure and comfortable fit, and most off all “real expert advice,” I highly recommend seeing Jake and his crew in person. My family and I look forward to more adventures and memories with the help of Sports Cove Vacaville! – via

There are not too many scuba, water and winter sport specialty stores around like before. Disappointed to find out they mark the prices more than 100%. I recommend going somewhere else if possible. Miss leading advertisements as well, Veterans Day up to 50% off but when I got there they highest mark up was 10% on previous year gear. I brought it to the attention of the owner he didn’t give an explanation. Good people. Terrible store. – via

Went into the cove to buy boots. They had a minimal selection and ranged from $200-$300. I went to an actual snowboarding shop in Olympic Valley and found the same pair of boots for half the cost. Unacceptable Period. – via

I’ve been to multiple Snowboarding shops and seen the same items for half the price. Cove up charges more than a reasonable mom and pop shop. Went in to buy a new bib and the price was $400. Went to Truckee Tahoe the same week and found the same bib for $215. Truckee is notoriously expensive as well. I was a long time customer of this store but I’ll never go back after discovering this. – via
