Not often will a shop focus entirely on what is best for you instead of what is best for your bottom line. As a new freediver I thought I needed fibreglass fins, which Mark showed me and explained the advantages clearly. Where he separated Spear Shack from the rest was by then candidly explaining that the minor advantage I may gain wouldn’t be worth the extra money, recommending instead some significantly cheaper plastic fins. After taking them out the following day and hitting a PB dive, I have to say I owe him one! Gained a customer for life by being honest and fair instead of just taking advantage of a dumb new diver with a credit card and no clue. – via
