Solid Surf is such a special place!
I took a solo trip hoping to relax, reflect, and learn to surf. The staff and volunteers were so welcoming, kind, talented, and patient. I am so grateful for everything they did for me – teaching me to surf, helping me plan, keeping me safe, and very well fed! Yesner made sure everything went smoothly, taught me all about the area, helped me translate, and made me feel like family. Solid Surf is small and well designed to build a natural camaraderie that between the guests. The people I met are really what keeps such a special place in my heart for this place.
The grounds were incredibly peaceful with lots of shade, a yoga deck, and options for lounging. Low tide was always interesting, with a lot of beach to walk and lots of tide pools to explore. You could make it a ‘working vacation’ with ample table space and strong enough wifi for zoom calls.
It was a great place to learn to surf – reliable, not crowded, and not a lot of dangers (rocks, coral, etc.). I’m so grateful to Jacob for his surf instruction – he was motivating, patient, safe, and genuinely excited to see his students succeed. Seems like a great place for surfers of all levels – there were enough advanced surfers around that I could always find someone to answer my naive questions.
Martha’s food was amazing. I did the ‘basic all inclusive’ package which included breakfast and dinner. It was so filling that snacks/fruit for lunch were usually enough. The price was a little more than you’d pay for a meal in town but it was so delicious/varied and so relaxing not to have to make any decisions about where/what to eat that it’s a great thing to include if you aren’t on a super-tight budget.
It was such an incredible experience and I can’t wait to go back! – via
