Drove down from Sydney on a Sunday for my partner’s birthday experience booked several weeks in advance. Skydive Sydney had a server issue that afternoon and was not able to register us when we arrived. We sat on the porch for close to 2 hours waiting to dive. In the end we were told it wouldn’t happen and we drove back up. 5+ hours in total and fuel costs lost, plus a ruined birthday experience. As compensation we were offered a photo package that we didn’t want.
I asked Skydive Sydney to refund my deposit due to their error. They refused, stating in their T&Cs that their deposits are strictly non refundable. After a lot of back and forth, arguing that it was their server error and not the weather which caused the cancellation, they refunded the deposit.
I asked if they would change the photo package to a discount and they said no. There was no compensation provided for the time or fuel.
It’s probably fine if you get to jump, but the experience if you don’t is not good. Be warned, if the weather is not right you will not be refunded, and the ‘credit’ you receive is only valid for a year. – via
