Disappointing Experience with Misleading Information and Safety Concerns at Skydive Athens
I recently visited Skydive Athens, and unfortunately, my experience was overshadowed by several issues that potential visitors should be aware of.
Firstly, there is a discrepancy between the pricing information on their website and what is charged on-site. The website lists the cost per jump as €35, but we were informed upon arrival that the actual price is €39. Furthermore, we were told that to purchase a package with multiple jumps, we needed to pay for a membership, a requirement not mentioned on their website. While the site states the membership fee is €50, we were informed the actual price is €80.
Another point of misinformation is the advertised altitude for jumps. The website claims jumps are from 4,200 meters; however, all our jumps were from 3,650 meters, with no explanation or compensation provided for this difference.
Additionally, the staff’s handling of our equipment was negligent and disrespectful, which was both disappointing and concerning given the importance of this gear in skydiving.
Moreover, the staff’s overall demeanor was unfriendly and unwelcoming. A particularly concerning incident involved a staff member. He executed what seemed to be a risky and dangerous maneuver during a landing pattern, turning back 180’ into traffic at about 100 meters altitude. This not only breached basic safety protocols but also created a scary and dangerous situation.
In conclusion, while skydiving is inherently a risk-taking sport, the discrepancies in pricing and altitude, coupled with the staff’s attitude and disregard for safety, made my experience at Skydive Athens unpleasant and concerning. I hope this feedback helps others make informed decisions and encourages the establishment to improve its services and safety standards. – via
