My wife and I spent 5 days on the M/V Dolphin Queen in late January 2023 to earn the PADI Open Water Diver.
As a beginner diver, I cannot compare the visited spots with others, but I found every single dive to be extremely impressive. The underwater world around the Similan Islands is breathtaking.
The organization of the trip (including hands-on training in the pool at family residence the morning before departure) was perfect – from the first email contact with SDS to arranging a transfer for onward travel once the trip was complete.
The five days on board (18 dives) were super relaxed yet educational as our instructor Jen took the time to explain what she had seen after each dive.
All in all, the entire crew of Similan Diving Safaris (diving instructor, dive master, captain, cook, boat boys) was completely convincing: the boat is in great condition (safety first), the equipment was very good, the food after every dive was rich and delicious, the briefings before each dive were excellent.
The mood on board was great throughout. The family atmosphere immediately affects the diving guests – you feel comfortable and welcome.
Unreserved recommendation from us. We will definitely be back…

Meine Frau und ich waren Ende Januar 2023 für 5 Tage auf der M/V Dolphin Queen, um den PADI Open Water Diver zu erlangen.
Als Tauchanfänger kann ich die besuchten Spots nicht mit anderen vergleichen, empfand aber jeden einzelnen Tauchgang als extrem beeindruckend. Die Unterwasserwelt rund um die Similan-Inseln ist atemberaubend.
Die Organisation des Trips (einschließlich der praktischen Ausbildung im Pool am Wohnsitz der Familie am Vormittag vor dem Auslaufen) war perfekt – vom ersten Email-Kontakt mit SDS bis zur Besorgung eines Transfers zur Weiterreise nach Abschluss der Fahrt.
Die fünf Tage an Bord (18 Tauchgänge) waren super entspannt und trotzdem lehrreich, da sich unsere Tauchlehrerin Jen nach jedem Tauchgang die Zeit nahm, das Gesehene zu erläutern.
Insgesamt hat die gesamte Crew von Similan Diving Safaris (Tauchlehrer/in, Dive Master, Kapitän, Köchin, Boat Boys) auf ganzer Linie überzeugt: Das Boot ist in einem super Zustand (safety first), die Ausrüstung war sehr gut, das Essen nach jedem Tauchgang war reichhaltig und superlecker, die Einweisungen vor den einzelnen Tauchgängen waren ausgezeichnet.
Die Stimmung an Bord war durchweg spitze. Die familiäre Atmosphäre greift sofort auf die Tauchgäste über – man fühlt sich wohl und willkommen.

I went on the 3 day similian islands liveaboard and did the advanced diver course. The dive sites were great – full of life and lots of variety. The dive team were knowledgeable, helpful and patient. There is a relaxed, friendly atmosphere on board. The food is unbelievably good and dietary restrictions are well catered for. Cabins are comfortable. My only regret is not doing a longer liveaboard! Highly recommend going if you can get a place! – via

I booked this as an “end of vacation” adventure before going back to France and oh boy was it worth it. I booked a 3 day trip for a total of 10 dives and to me it was the most memorable and spectacular thing I’ve ever did. I took an underwater camera with me and I’ve never seen so much beautiful coral reefs and fishes, I just didn’t know where to look at. The company is family owned, the 2 daughters Jane and Joy who are to take the business after their father, are lovely girls with a ton of experience despite their young age. they have just one boat (the amazing “Dolphin Queen” ) but the professionalism, comfort and friendship they bring make you so relax you almost never want to leave. I hadn’t dive for a while and was a bit anxious but after the first one everything felt natural and easy. The food on board is great, the crew always helps you out with your diving equipment to make sure you are all set and everyone try its best to help you out or answer any questions. I had such a good time that I will definitely book them again if I come back to Thailand. Book them without hesitation, they are affordable, professional and most of all the most gentle and dedicated people I’ve met. – via
