I was looking for a whaleshark trip. The dive teacher told me we were going to the whalesharks the day after and I signed up for diving. Actually whaleshark main ground was far away we did not go to the main feeding ground and I did not see a whaleshark. My guesthouse arranged a snorkel trip for them and saw 2 of them, I could not cancel since they prepared diving tubes. The dive was awesome, the instructor was always with me and attentive yet he did not do a proper refresher after me not diving for 10 years just showing a few sign reminders. For whalesharks do not go with divers you do not need to dive at all, go with a whaleshark snorkeling trip and you will save money and time. And also with dhigurah diving schools you will have a better chance since they have more customers and are more likely arrange whale shark trips. The removal of 2 stars is due to missing proper refresher and false advertising telling me that we are going on a whaleshark trip. If you are only going there for diving and do not care about whalesharks or mantas they are an excellent school – via google

Amazing and super friendly stuff, great food (way above my expectation!), nice room, and most importantly AWESOME diving instructor and experience!

We stayed at Shamar’s guesthouse for 5 nights and did 10 dives with Shammon. And I wanna call out the highlights that justify the 5 star rating:
1. Shammon is one of the best diving instructor I have ever met, he is super calm, patient and professional, I had some trouble with equalizing at the beginning and thanks to him I was able to descend much faster at the end of the tour.

2. The diving experience and arrangement is superb and unbeatable!
Thanks to the end to end ownership (Shammon owns the guesthouse, transportation, boat, everything! This is rare in other dive centers), the diving experience was super smooth, flexible, and most importantly enable us to go to the best diving spot given the weather and ocean condition.

3. One of the best diving destination in Maldives, especially for whale sharks!
Mammigili is the island for whale shark, most whale shark spots are within 30 mins via boat, and thanks to Shammon’s experience we were able to see whale shark 3 times in 4 days! Both at the bottom and the surface of water.

4. Amazing stuff and food.
This is not a 5-star resort, but the stuff, service and food are definitely way above an average guest house.
The staffs are always super friendly, responsible, courteous, and always ready to help.
The food great exceeds out expectation, with daily specials and Ala Carte menu, with wide variety of options ranging from Indian, South east Asia and Italian food.

Overall highly recommend! If you are serious about diving in Maldives and whale shark watching, and want to get the great service, room and food at much lower rate than Maldive’s luxury hotels, this is the place!

As the Guesthouse was fully booked, I didn’t stay at Shamar. But I had the great experience of joining them on a few dives. The numerous great reviews say it all: great organization, amazing staff and to top it off some of the greatest dive spots in the world. Thanks to being on a local island it is also price worthy especially for Malediven standards. It doesn’t get better than that. Hope to have the chance to come back soon. – via google

They really went out of their way to make us happy! Diving was announced every morning – two dive sites in a row were visited, most within an hour’s drive with our own dhoni. After that, even our gear was washed daily, repackaged and taken back to the boat the next morning. The dive guides really tried everything to show us great dive sites and also to ‘take care’ of us. All really super nice! In 2 weeks we saw almost everything (several times) that the Indian Ocean has to offer. We will come back in any case. We mostly ate in the guest house – always very tasty. The only thing we missed was some variety in the food – considering that availability on the island of Maamigili is of course limited. 14 days varied curries and fresh fish, accompanied by daily rice was sometimes too much for us and we bought a sandwich or a pizza in town. But that’s just a small point that could be improved. Otherwise all around very good!

Tolles Gästehaus, das wir für eine Tauchergruppe gebucht hatten. Nettes Personal, Zimmer sauber (wurden auch täglich gereinigt) mit Dusche, WC und Klimaanlage. Gutes Bett und Balkon mit Meerblick. Man hat sich wirklich rundherum bemüht, uns zufrieden zu stellen! Tauchen war täglich am Morgen angesagt – zwei Tauchplätze hintereinander wurden besucht, die meisten im Umkreis einer Fahrstunde mit dem eigenen Dhoni. Danach wurde sogar unsere Ausrüstung täglich gespült, wieder verpackt und am nächsten Morgen wieder aufs Boot gebracht. Die diveguides haben wirklich alles versucht uns tolle Tauchplätze zu zeigen und auch auf uns ‘aufzupassen’. Alle wirklich super-lieb! Wir haben in 2 Wochen nahezu alles (mehrmals) gesehen, was der indische Ozean zu bieten hat. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wieder kommen. Wir haben meistens im Gästehaus gegessen – stets sehr lecker. Lediglich vermisst haben wir etwas Abwechslung beim Essen – unter Berücksichtigung, dass natürlich die Verfügbarkeiten auf der Insel Maamigili beschränkt ist. 14 Tage zwar abwechslungsreiche Currys und frischer Fisch, begleitet von täglich Reis war uns dann ab und an zu viel und wir kauften uns mal ein Sandwich oder eine Pizza im Ort. Aber das ist lediglich ein kleiner Punkt den man verbessern könnte. Ansonsten rundherum sehr gut! – via google
