“Sea Explorers” diving center on Malapascua.

Here you feel welcome and well looked after from the first minute.

An unfortunately occurring diving accident was dealt with perfectly. The rescue chain worked. The base manager was absolutely professional in his support and always one step ahead. The medical care in Cebu was excellent.
If you could give it 10 stars I would.
Thanks to the team. You are the best.
Many thanks from the diving group “Mader-Reisen” – via google

Fantastic dive center. Allows a lot of flexibility in dive sites selection where you can decide every day where to go based on you diving preferences. The operation is very smooth and dives are in small groups per dive master. The DMs are very good and know the marine life very well. Their slogan is ‘dive with a smile’ . I still smile, days after. – via google

My partner and I spent a week in Malapascua, we did the baptism and the OW with Silvia, and we couldn’t have asked for anything more or better. We have fallen in love with diving and it has largely been thanks to her?? We have felt super comfortable and we have laughed a lot, so 100% recommended, both the center and Silvia ?????? – viaGoogle

1.0/ 5

Do not dive with this company but if you want to pay twice as much for no reason, of course you can dive.

They charge you for everything, diving computer, torch, mask, bc, regulator etc. but other diving centers only ask extra money for computer.

I paid them 6.500 php for 2 dives, 3.250 php per dive and a day before i went diving with another center which is “Mabuhay Thresher Dive Center” and I paid 4.850 php for 3 dives, 1.616 php per dive.
And there is no lunch or breakfast in the boat, in Mabuhay you can eat lunch or breakfast depending on the diving hours.

And the worst part is; in the morning i told them that to ask all customers about their air consumption and experiences.
During the first dive(we’re 3 divers by the way) after 20 minutes one of the divers’ air is around 70bar, unbelievable…
And as you can imagine it’s not diving it’s just sight seeing…

For the second dive I told dive master to change my group and the second dive we’re 2 divers, better than the first dive.

After we return to the office i asked them to make a discount because of the first dive, they didn’t do anything.

If you charge your customers twice as much you should give them a wonderful service, brand new equipment, amazing dive masters, etc. etc. but there is only two things which you are better, your boat and your scam potential. Congratulations… – via google

I couldn’t be happier to have taken the Open Water there. They recommended me to Silvia, a super nice instructor who conveys a lot of tranquility. And what a good thing I did with her!!???? She explains the entire syllabus very well and under the water I have felt very safe with her.
If I could take the Advanced and other courses with her, I would definitely do it!
Thank you Silvia and Sea Explorers for this piece of experience!!! – viaGoogle

We have been extremely lucky to do the Open Water with Silvia in Sea Explorers and two dives to see the thresher sharks. Silvia transmits passion for what she does, added to her joy and desire to teach others. Thanks to her we had an experience that we will always remember 🙂
She has made us enjoy diving and feel comfortable in the water.

2.0/ 5

Go for your fun dives elsewhere! While the rescue diver course with Toto (Alberto) was fantastic and the dive center manager was kind, I definitely don‘t recommend the dive center for fun dives due to 3 reasons: 1. Almost double the price of other centers for the same dive sites, comparable gear and less capable divemasters than other schools who spotted less aquatic life 2. Lack of clear communication on the price with hidden costs for sanctuary fees, mandatory lunch fees which I didn‘t have and card payments payable only in USD with terrible exchange rates. 3. Snarky and rude staff at the office who need education on customer relations! – via google

5.0/ 5

Excellent diveshop, superb dive leaders, great diving experiences!

We just spent 10 days diving in Malapascua and thoroughly enjoyed the experience and definitely recommend choosing Sea Explorers for their high standards of safety and service.

BASICS
Every day the available dives were indicated on a wall, and divers can opt for which trip they want to join up to 3 days ahead. Divemasters (DMs) are assigned by the centre, but I believe you generally keep the same one throughout your trip, if they are available. Ratios were never more than 4 divers to one DM. The cheapest way to pay for dives is pre-booking and pre-paying. The more you dive, the cheaper they are. By no means is this cheap, but diving rarely is (see price sheet photo). Nitrox is extra and every diving day around Malapascua comes with a 300 pesos “sanctuary fee,” 400 pesos when off to see the Thresher sharks. BBQs on day trips are 350 pesos, cash only (best if it’s exact change) and paid at the end of the boat trip. Pay accumulated sanctuary fees at the end of your trip.

GEAR
Gear is stored in a room that is locked overnight, and has some smart storage solutions for hanging regs, BCD, etc. Equipment is typically loaded in the mornings by the crew in crates. They take good care and all you have to do is confirm all your stuff is on the boat. After the trip, they will help you unload everything and bring it up to the diveshop. There are big basins for washing specific gear. The DMs may offer to wash your stuff, but you are also welcome to clean off your own gear (as we did).

STAFF
There are a number of DMs and they ensure ratios are super low. We were lucky to meet Martin (a senior dive master with over 26 years experience) as soon as we docked. He was personable, knowledgeable and really made our whole trip super safe, easy, customisable and comfortable! He sorted out gear, offered coffee, discussed diving trip options, key attractions, outlined the dive plans and was always candid about where he felt conditions would be best. He has an excellent depth of experience and was happy to dive how we preferred – avoiding currents, maximising dive time, not going too deep and being patient when looking for sharks. All the office staff and crew on every boat were happy and friendly, many staff learned our names within days and would say hi when we saw them on shore around the island.

DIVE SITES
There are a tonne of dive sites around Malapascua and nearby islands. Kimud Shoal is the biggest attraction, as that is where the Thresher sharks come to be cleaned by the reef fish. There are multiple island trips – Gato, Capitancillo and Calanggaaman, Chocolate – for different variants of dive (cave/tunnel, wall, reef). Around Malapascua itself you can dive pinnacles, open sandy bottom, a house reef, etc. Mostly easy diving, unless there is a current forcing a change to a different site. All Sea Explorer’s own boats are in good condition, clean, nicely designed, etc.

NOTE: The Coast Guard decides when conditions are unsafe, so don’t blame the crew if you can’t go somewhere – they lobby hard to go as often as possible, but the Coast Guards are the ones who make the final call.

Overall, had a great time with a great dive shop! Highly recommend! – via google

It’s a very nice dive shop, high quality and high standard. Everything is clean organized and in good shape. You get definitely what you pay for. If you tell them in advance what you looking for on your dives they try to make it possible. Thanks Martin and Crew – via google

3.0/ 5

Good experience but for example we did a night dive and even renting a full equipment we had to pay a torch… Its a Night dive!! For sure that we need it!! Once in the dive one of the torch run out of battery. At least our instructor had another one.
The best of the school is the instructors. Ander, the spanish one is a 10!! He is very professional, friendly and approachable and Alex the local is also great!!!
Is the most expensive school on the island.
If you are interesting in dive ask before for “Buceomalapascua”. – via google
