I truly REGRET choosing to sign up to dive with Scuba Shack. I have never left a bad review in my life, but my experience with the owner, Charlie, was that disappointing, I wanted to warn people to NEVER SIGN UP TO DIVE with Scuba Shack OVER THE PHONE. And if you do not want to deal with a moody, distracted, unfriendly owner and captain to just avoid this company all together.
Charlie’s Scuba Shack operates his company as a money grab with fake friendliness that Charlie fronts until he has your payment then he could care less about you and could care less about following up on vital information you discussed.
When we signed up and paid for the dive over the phone, the first thing I asked Charlie was that my dive partner did not have their card, so if he could look him up in the system to confirm the credentials the dive team needs. Charlie replied, that is no problem, so I provided Charlie with all the information he needed and he said you would call back if there were any issues. I never received a call with any issues and never received any email with further information. I tried calling the shop 3 times the day before the dive, and never received a call back. So we followed the initial instructions that were given over the phone: to meet at the dock at 5:45am and were immediately greeted with attitude from Charlie, who then aggressively told us he did not have my dive partners dive information (that he confirmed three days earlier that he was going to verify) and refused to look while we at the dock, leaving us unable to dive.
The dive master was nice, but Charlie the owner needs to either learn how to keep his word and do his job properly or he needs to stop doing what he is doing because he runs his business very poorly and unprofessionally. He may have been doing this for awhile but the qualities he displayed to us were: irritated, distracted, over-it, and forgetful that all makes for a very poor experience.
If you want to actually go out on the water, I would choose to different to dive with.
Overall a Very Bad Experience. – via

We went on a two dive trip to Molokini crater and turtle town with Charley and Brandon. They were both friendly and professional, and we had a wonderful time and experience with them. They start early morning so that we could get on site before other boats and divers, which was totally worth it. The boat is fast 🙂 comfortable, and has a hot shower. The diving sites are great and we saw lots of fish, turtles, and sharks. Highly recommended – via

Did my open water dive certification here. The service was great, in the morning, there was complementary coffee and hot chocolate, and a continental breakfast between dives. The dive locations were wonderful, and our dive master Mike was friendly and committed to safety. I strongly recommend diving here, it’s an amazing experience for a great price! – via
