Adventure Scuba is a great resource for scuba (naturally), snorkeling and swim gear generally. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. I took a class (offered at Asphalt Green across the street) and had a wonderful one-on-one snorkel session. A terrific local resources and the type of store that makes NYC a great place. – via google

Fantastic dive shop to get any scuba gear you may need and to get your initial PADI scuba certification with the 2-day indoor pool training they do across the street at Asphalt Green. Tom was our scuba instructor and he did a fantastic job showing our class of 3 the necessary skills we needed to learn during the 2-day indoor training. Seth at the dive shop also did a fantastic job helping me pick the right gear I needed to begin my journey as a scuba diver especially when it came to wetsuit size selection. I was deciding between a size Medium suit versus a size Large suit and he stressed I get the Medium suit even though it was more snug and a little less comfortable than the Large suit. I’m sure glad I listened to his advice because being in the water long enough can make you cold and during the training I realized how much warmer I was in the more snug Medium wetsuit. So now that my indoor training is complete it’s now time for to go out and get my Open Water training completed. I rarely if ever give any place a 5 star review but that being said, Scuba New York exceeded my expectations as a firt time customer and soon to be licensed diver thanks to them!. I bought all my gear from them and I was walked through every piece of equipment, price and features with great detail. I was able to put together my very own custom set-up for my personal needs. Now for anyone that might be getting into this sport know that you get what you pay for and scuba diving is an expensive hobby but I did plenty of research to know Scuba New York actually sells their gear at suggested retail prices and nothing is marked up. Great people, great gear…100% recommend. – via google

Highly recommend this place. Just did the padi course. Emilio was a great instructor. He made sure everyone had a full understanding of gear and skills.Very laid back and somewhat funny.( just laugh at the Hoover joke ok the guy is trying) Rob the owner was great. He has no problem spending time with you to make sure everything fits and you get what you need, Lots to choose from. There is no other place I will go for my Scuba needs. My wife went there on 01/29. She is an advanced open water diver. She was trying on a new mask and asked for permission to take a picture. The guy at the store, we believe that was Rob Weintraub, who also happens to be the owner, told her not to, as “people take pictures then go online and buy, while we are price competitive”.
Rob, Hello!, it’s 2019, people take pictures all the time, for all kind of reasons, and denying them this ability is just annoying. You remind me of an ice cream place owner I knew who would yell at you for asking to taste a flavor. Yes, these are annoying people called customers, they do all kind of irrational things, and you think you can judge them right away. You’re wrong. THE ONLY WAY TO SELL THEM YOUR OVERPRICED STUFF IS TO BE NICE TO THEM. She never buys her gear online, but even if she did, you can’t do anything about it. So, she got upset and left. She needs to update a lot of gear. Maybe hire some friendly help without this arrogant attitude.

Update>> Thanks for taking time to review and respond. We appreciate your attention to these matters. I spoke with her, she says that the part “she said she wanted to take pictures in order to “comparison shop” on the internet” is simply not true. An apology would be enough, Rob – via google
