The nannys are AMAZING. Honestly I felt so comfortable leaving my toddler with our nanny Deborah from day one. The girls at the front desk weren’t always the most friendly, they kind of seemed annoyed anytime you asked them a question. The bartenders, wait staff and other hotel staff were very sweet and accommodating. The hotel/rooms could definitely use some basic repairs and a fresh coat of paint and the pool/buildings are definitely older. But I will say things were clean, we felt safe and the food was pretty good. The biggest problem we had was we checked in the day after a huge storm which destroyed the beach, hot tub deck, spa pier and main dining deck. They didn’t even tell us that the property sustained damage so we just thought it was a run down hotel which was kind of depressing when you are arriving to a beach vacation. The hot tub was not usable while we were there, and while the beach did get cleaned of all the rocks and debris from the storm, the sand remained pushed back with exposed PVC pipes for the four days we were there. I am assuming it will take a few months before they get the beach back to normal And maybe even longer to fix the hot tub deck which is on the beach. They also didn’t let us know that when we had lunch and dinner the first night the normal dining area had damaged so we were in a clearly very unused dining room that was extremely outdated and drab. I know they had no control over mother nature. They should have given us a heads up. When the nanny was giving us a tour she did mention that there were not normally so many leaves and branches around, but it had been very windy. They did work very hard while we were there to clean up the grounds. Not sure that we would go back although it seems there are many families who return on our regular basis. – via

Its very quiet and peaceful at night and the nanny’s are great with interacting with kids. The food is amazing and there are multiple facilities that are available to occupy your time, the view from the room balconies and beach are also great. The rooms are very comfortable and good for relaxing. – via

The perfect family getaway!
Normally a vacation is not a vacation… but for the first time, I felt relaxed n assisted with the impeccable nanny service offered to every family.
From the time I booked, to our departure, the staff at the FDR resort had been amazing.
The owner is also present and attentive on the resort, which I’ve never experienced in my 25+ years of traveling.
The resort is perfect for kids. I didn’t have to worry about an over populated experienced. Food was great! The kids particularly looked forward to the kids club daily with an array of activities, which included tie dye shirts, crab racing, crazy clothes dress up, and they learned to play tennis and ping pung. The onsite kayaking is also a treat!
Spa services (on the beach) is just what I needed to relax.
Book your next family trip here to be able to enjoy the beautiful island of Jamaica and be treated like family by the FDR resort. I’ve told my entire mom village and family n friends; this is the place to come ???????? – via

I stayed at FDR the week before last week and upon arrival at the hotel I thought I was going to seriously hate it due to its small size and lack of western looks, but everything went… ok. One of the things I liked the most there (and you would not guess it!) was the playlist of the music that was being played on the radio around the pool/bar area, ONLY great songs, making the atmosphere so great. -So, you so could tell the songs were carefully selected. Big kudos to the programmer!!!… I also liked the morning Bike tour of the neighborhood, by the dreadlocks-feat. hotel guide (I forget his name). Highly recommended! I did it twice during my week-long stay at FDR and I am still in awe with the mountain sceneries and all that I have seen while pedaling around with the group of tourist bikers I was in. And receptionist Cyri was amazing!… The only thing is that the poor-looking beach and the old wood infrastructure around need a good makeover. And sometimes (not a lot though!) I’d have a hard time getting hot water in the bathroom, so this needs to be checked upon too. And the flies bothering you while you’re eating your breakfast would need to be addressed as well… – via

Pool refresher and two dives today with Zlatan. We are beginner divers and we’re nervous as our first experiences were in challenging conditions. Zlatan was amazing, patient and making sure we were comfortable. Dressel is very organized and all staff helping each other out through the day. A great experience! – via

The two stars are ONLY for the actual workers on the boat. They were wonderful. I took 3 stars for the sales people and the company policy on refunds. So the only way to get a refund for someone missing due to illness is to get a doctors note basically. Which is totally understandable and not the problem. Problem is you have to literally pay $35 to have some nurse fill out a 4 line form that lists your name and what you’re sick from and that you came in. What a freaking rip off. The other issue came from the sales person who just lied to my face about our excursion. I really hate liars.
I’ll be skipping this company for any future trips. – via
