When I used my reg again in Thailand I immediately suffered from free flow on the second stage and octopus. I also had trouble connecting the first stage with several bottles.
Initially tightened the screws in the second stage and octopus. With that, the free flow seemed to have been remedied for a while. But it soon came back. Not all the time but annoying.
Now I did a night dive with friends last night. We were taking pictures at a depth of 9m when suddenly my air supply started to falter. I still had about 50 bar but with every breath I couldn’t finish it and the needle of my manometer flew to 0 bar. So I had to go up with my buddy’s octopus.
The next day I immediately had my set checked by a local Aqua Lung service center. The technician there first noticed that elements in the second stage and octopus were full of corrosion. Then also that the pressure in the second stage was too low. And finally that a valve in the first stage (ACD) was not screwed in far enough so that the valve did not open properly.
He fixed the whole thing and now the machine is working fine again.
I am shocked that Scuba Center has serviced the set so poorly. It is not about a coffee machine but about life support equipment.

Nu heb ik afgelopen nacht een nachtduik gemaakt met vrienden. We waren op 9m diepte foto’s aan het nemen toen ineens mijn luchttoevoer begon te haperen. Ik had nog ongeveer 50 bar maar bij elke ademteug kon ik hem niet afmaken en vloog de naald van mijn manometer naar 0 bar. Ik moest dus omhoog met de octopus van mijn buddy.
De volgende dag mijn set maar meteen laten nakijken door een lokaal Aqua Lung service center. De technicus daar constateerde eerst dat elementen in de tweede trap en octopus vol corrosie zaten. Vervolgens ook nog dat de druk in de tweede trap te laag was. En tot slot dat een klep in de eerste trap (ACD) niet ver genoeg ingeschroefd was waardoor de klep niet goed openging.
Hij heeft de boel verholpen en nu doet de automaat het weer prima.
Ik ben geschokt dat Scuba Center de set zo slecht geserviced heeft. Het gaat niet om een koffiezetapparaat maar om life support equipment. – via
