Are you ready for the 411? Here we go…first I must start by saying I have always been impressed with the Sandals franchise and what Butch Stewart developed and turned into these pieces of heaven scattered across the Caribbean. This resort is so beautiful and relaxing at the same time. My husband choose this for my birthday celebration more to relax versus being in the midst of activities. We have traveled to Jamaica before so was not looking to be in the midst of everything.
The resort is only 15 minutes from the airport so you will be able to engage in activities immediately. From the pickup from the airport to the drop-off to the hotel, the customer service is on point. Upon arrival we were greeted by Kadeja and she was an angel. Normally I book out trips and pay attention to the fine details but my guy did not so Kadeja was able to help him with the things he missed. She was so helpful to him that he looked for her the next few days, I am sure she could not wait to be rid of him.
We enjoyed all the amenities including the cabanas. For the cabanas on the mainland, with the exception of one that gets the sun, the others were in the shade and caught a lot of the winds. The private island cabanas were very nice and had a lot of the sun.
Now my reason for giving this property a three star was because of housekeeping and the cats. For 2 nights we did not get our rooms cleaned, we called housekeeping, spoke to the front desk and still did not get the room cleaned. Housekeeping must be understaffed as two days in a row we can into our room after 3:30pm and the room was still not cleaned. While they would come around 4:30pm, by that time who is interested in leaving their room to get it cleaned. On our last night they came to the room at 8:15 asking if we wanted the room cleaned. This was very disappointing and not what I usually expect from Sandals. I feel so bad for the housekeeper who had to clean all the build up but I made sure to clean up and put things together to make their life easier.
Our next disappointment was the cats on the property. I am not a cat person and while I can handle them from a distance, up close and personal can be troubling for me. It truly bothered me when the cats would come into the restaurant and stare you down for food. I was so looking forward to the French restaurant and was enjoying the meal until the cats started coming in and parking themselves by our tables looking for food. We traveled to the other Sandals resort and while sitting at the bar watched two cats get into a brawl and another guest had to break it up while the staff just walked past the situation.
Other disappointment, sadly while on my flight, I realized I left my wool wrap in the hotel room so since December 17th, I have been trying to get it back. Although they found it, up until today, I have not gotten it back. To no avail, despite the many phone calls and speaking with the manager, Mr. Khan, they have not sent it back. I was told I would receive an email with a DHL label and still nothing. This probably was the most disappointing part of the trip. I hope whoever ends up with my wrap enjoys it as I did because I have no confidence I will ever get it back.
Special shout out – Kadeja…our human lifesaver, Lamar (Spices), Christina (Spices), Natasha (Spices) Junior (mainland Cabana), Javier (Island Cabana), Devon (Thai), Mark (Bombay), Synovia and Devroy (Le Jardnier). There was a host more these were the ones who definitely went the extra mile! – via
