Amazing experience. Sandals is our go to resort for many years and this time we decided to get the over the water bungalow and it has exceeded our expectations. The staff we have Kyle, Karen, and Keicher are amazing and very attentive to our needs. The spa is amazing, we enjoyed the couples massage, amazing. We love it and we will be back. – via

A honeymoon penthouse looks just like a regular Hilton room except for the view. Resturant service was the slowest, the last night of our stay it took over 30 minutes for us to place a drink order after we were seated in a half full resturant, not to mention how long it took to get our food. – via

Good venue even if you don’t want to do any excursions. Pool-tables a plenty and snooker table. Plenty of bars. Wide range of culinary restaurants. Idelaic sea view. Good evening entertainment and occasional cabaret. Plenty off tours and excursions. Only negative is the road system in St Lucia is not that great so always prepare for a long journey. – via

This was our 11th trip with Sandals and as always, we had a great time. What made it even better since we already had 70 paid nights, this was our complimentary trip. Since the week was free and due to the distance and flight times we purchased a couple of extra days.

Very pretty resort and lots to do. We hiked up to Fort Rodney and Signal Point , where you could see the Atlantic on one side and the Caribbean on the other side. This was a short walk from the property, but a pretty good hike. We did an excursion through Adventure Tours, the Drive and Power Snorkel. This has to be the best excursion we’ve ever done. There were several of us, but each couple got to drive their own boat. They took us up to the Pitons and then worked our way back.

The other two Sandals resorts are within 15-30 minutes away and there are shuttles that run between them so you can enjoy all three.

As I said earlier this was our 11th trip. We’ve been to about all of the ones in Jamaica and Bahamas. Negril , Royal Caribbean, Royal Bahamian and this one in St Lucia have been our most enjoyable trips. The only disappointment was the Sandals in Exuma, Emerald Bay. Emerald Bay was the poorest run resort and least friendly staff and management we’ve ever dealt with.

Rooms were nice and food was good at the Grande. I can’t think of anything to complain about other than having to leave eventually. Thanks again for another memorable trip – via

Beautiful resort. Spa was Amazing! If you make spa appointments, ask for Rachel! She’s the best!
Our elevator quit working on Day 5, and still wasn’t fixed when we left on Day 7. Room service was good, but we had trouble getting beer, pop, and water delivered to our room in a timely matter. It would show up hours after we called for it. Food was good, but didn’t blow our socks off. It’s a beautiful island, and beautiful friendly people. First experience staying at Sandals, not sure I would stay at another Sandals resort. – via

Getting to the resort: STRONGLY recommend going by boat or helicopter. If you are not used to having someone drive you very closely to other cars/people/animals for two hours on single lane roads that go up and down hills, then you will not enjoy your overall vacation experience. The airport and resort are on complete opposite ends of the island. – via

The food and views of st lucia along with our excursion saved our trip!
This was our frist and last Sandals resort stay.
The resort as a whole was not impressive. The whole place looked like it needed a deep clean and power wash! Our sliding glass door wouldn’t slide shut to lock as it was off true track. The only pool that didn’t have green scum on the bottom was the main pool with the swim up bar. (So glad we didn’t pay extra for the walk out pool room! Disgusting!)
The water and power was off and on the first three days of our trip. That was unpleasant and hot without air conditioning but okay, it’s an island so things happen. (The backup generators were down as well)
We went to get a massage and the fire alarm kept going off so it delayed us and then the power went off again. So we were trying to make our way through the spa in the dark, and that’s fine but it did get really hot without a/c during our massages so I was covered in sweat by the end of it. Just made it less enjoyable.
The food was delicious! Loved all of the food there!
I liked the idea of no tipping but did not care for the execution. I’ve stayed at other all inclusive resorts and we were able to tip our server or bartender and received excellent service! Here however I just felt like everyone hated their job! Hardly anyone smiled at you, and it was hard to get a drink from the bartender, and don’t expect poolside service (doesn’t exist) every time we inquired about servers by the pool we were told they were on lunch break…? Not to mention, the bartender that poured my first drink smelled the drink, dumped the drink, then proceeded to pour another drink to smell it then serve it to me. Even at the restaurants the servers made you feel like you were a burden for them. Overall I’d rather be able to tip a little here and there and receive excellent service then have it “included” and receive the service we did. Not impressed, not worth the money.
The excursion was the best day! Our tour guides were excellent! The views amazing!
Overall Sandals for me it’s a no thank you. I will probably return to St Lucia at some point in my life however I will not be staying at a Sandals ever again. Not worth the money for me. You pay for luxury and get motel 8 service. No thank you! – via

We ate at nearly every restaurant and Bombay was our favorite. They were all great though. Harish and his team took such good care of us and Frances was a very attentive waitress. The mango Lassi was SO GOOD.

If there are certain other places you want to try or activities you’d like to do (that are advertised as included) make sure you book it as soon as you can. Bombay reservations fill up fast because the food and atmosphere are so great, so be sure to book on day one. We wanted to snorkel but unfortunately were unable to do so because all of the days we were there, it was booked by other patrons. The lack of communication for this specifically was the only disappointing thing during our honeymoon.

Also be sure to note that there is no ATM on site and you are only able to procure $100US from the front desk from your debit card as a cash advance.

The grounds are breathtaking, with lovely vegetation and plenty of pools to choose from. This was the best Beach to swim on from the choice of nearby Sandals locations, so note that if you are a beach-goer. We were told by patrons staying at La Toc and Halcyon that The Grande location had the best beach by far. The waters were beautiful and the waves weren’t too big. We did several excursions, but we never felt that we needed to venture away from the resort otherwise. They do a splendid job of providing everything you’d want. – via

Here is what you need to know before booking any of these.
Notice what Sandals responded too, and what they didn’t.

*No white sands here. It’s not as advertised.

*There is only one airport on the island and its a 2hr drive from the airport to the resort. Buckle-up for a wild ride with the locals on narrow roads at high speeds!

*This is not a private area around the Bungalows.

*Local Fisherman netting through our swimming area the first day at 8am, then returned to the area everyday afterwards. My wife was dressing during this time as they swam up to our ladder and under our Bungalow. Management stated “it’s the ocean, we can’t stop them.”

*Rodney bay is very busy. Cruise ships, yachts, sailboats, fishing charters, all anchor in the bay area bringing guests to the beach area.

*Guest are free to roam around the Bungalows. Occupying the Bungalow lounge areas with fire pits, swings, and gazebos.

*Little to no privacy. Southside Bungalows face a public beach.

*The fishermen netting(Over 300″) around the bungalows ruined the water clarity. During their netting, our lounge floats were damaged and needing repaired so Sandals removed these during the last two days with no replacements.

*Fisherman also netted around the area where we did the “Under the water trek”, visibility was ruined for the day.

*Security is an issue. We were offered to buy cocaine and other drugs at the resort beach gate. Guards are posted around the resort, but the Bungalow area is guard free and our doors would not lock completely. Sandals stated that they could not prevent anyone from entering our water area, even during the night. “It’s the ocean”

*We were told that we could not fish, yet others(guests) happily fished around the Bungalow.

*Jet ski’s and other craft go speeding by at all hours. “No wake” areas do not exist here.

*Locals throwing trash in the water as they go boating by the Bungalows.

*Food is subpar when compared to other resorts, but it is free.
The Japanese restaurant ran out of Sake 🙁 The restaurants seemed short staffed.

*In case you want to sleep in, groundskeepers start early with the leaf blowers and gas-power pressure washers.
