Had the best time there! Did my open water plus some adventure dives and couldn’t have wished for a better instructor, group and surrounding. First the resort where the school is located is absolutely beautiful. Nice beach and tropical garden, really affordable accommodation regarding the standard you get. Felt suuuper comfortable. Good place to relax after hard school during the day ??
My bungalow was in a quiet area but also it was just some steps to walking street.
The diving school was awesome. Couldn’t have made a better choice ?? I was pretty nervous but the instructors did not only make accurately sure to teach us everything we needed to know but also made me feel super safe during every dive (under tbh partly rough conditions). I felt they know what they’re doing 100% and always were suuuper professional which made it easy to trust and feel secure! Thanks so much Toni and Derek, don’t wanna miss the time with you and am so grateful that Im now able to explore the world underneath the ocean surface to the fullest ???????? – via

Okay, we stayed for 9 nights, this is the 5th time in Thailand and second time on Koh Tao, and we loved this place because:
1. The staff were amazing, they helped us with taxi boat for snorkelling (boat nr 35, a very kind guy called Lai), advice on where to go on the island, everything we asked for or problems that we had, they solved it very quick and always with a smile. They cleaned every second day which was enough, if you try to keep the sand off your feet. It is a small tub outside the veranda to wash the sand off your feet. Nice cleaning staff.
2. The premises, pool area, bungalow (we stayed in beach front bungalow OB4). Everything was clean and although noisy in the nights when people went to the bars, it was worth it with the view we had from the bungalow veranda where we watched the sunset and beach/boat people all day long. The room had a nice Air con and a little fridge, the bed was a little hard as everywhere in Thailand, but we got used to it. The pool with a ”swim in” bar, also very nice and clean.
3. The restaurant with a barbecue each night to die for, so delicious and very nice breakfast and pizza too. Quick response from the staff, they never seemed to rest. – via

I came to sairee cottage to do my divemaster, IDC, and MSDT specialties. Marcel, the course director, is wonderful at his job providing extensive pro programs and makes all students feel welcome on the island. Sairee cottage pro programs have such a great sense of community and really strive to prepare you well and to help get you the job of your dreams afterwards.
DM mentor Flav and staff instructor Julián make a great team to prepare all DMTs for employment as divemasters!
Staff instructors Joy Abedin and Julián Picco were so knowledgeable and made the IDC feel so personal. They were invaluable in preparing us for the IE and shared their experience to know what it is like to work as a PADI instructor.
Thank you Sairee Cottage Team! – via

I did my Instructor Development Course with Marcel last month and It was soo great that words are not enough to explain that..you need to actually experience his teaching for every aspect of diving. He not only trains you for your exam but also for real life teaching and that is what makes him so special.. he will teach you some of the techniques that you can use while teaching courses especially Navigation and night dives and it is an eyeopener.. after that you will feel that this was so simple but actually simple things are the most difficult to do as we always try to complicate things.. So if you plan to do your IDC or your Dive master or even if you wanna do your open water and plan to be a professional in future highly recommend that you contact Marcel Van Den Berg ?? or Sairee cottage diving.. Many thanks to Julian and Joy. They trained us along with Marcel and were always ready to help us with theory and presentations. Special thanks to Maii who always arranged for everything we needed for our course and also our stay.. – via

A really bad hotel experience! First of all, except for the lady at the reception, the other employees were very good, thank you. However, the lady working at the reception desk was really rude and had a bad attitude. It is not nice that the hotel asks you to pay a deposit at the entrance or leave your passport or ID card with them. Especially after seeing how useless and full of old stuff the room was! There are definitely not enough sockets, the closet is completely useless, there is no shelf and they put 3 hangers, 1 per person 🙂 There is no table in the room, so you can only put your personal belongings on the bed. The bathroom really smells incredibly bad. Especially when you first turn on the water to take a shower, a really bad smelling water comes out. There is nothing called water pressure in the shower head. The faucet in the sink is so small that it is impossible to wash your hands without touching the sink. The doors are still padlocked and unlocked and this is really annoying. Everything in the room is really, really old. They also don’t provide beach towels. When we asked the rude lady at the reception why, she said it was difficult to wash because the towels were sandy. They give you a pool towel but they want you to use it for 2-3 days and then change it and you have to sign when you get the towel 🙂 During check-out, while you are waiting at the reception, they go and check the room if you have stolen or broken anything, which is a treatment I have never seen in any hotel anywhere in the world in my life. But hey, they provide free transfer to the pier! – via

We stayed at Sairee Cottage in the Garden Bungalow for 3 days. The room is small and cute, with little space. But we only paid the equivalent of €18 per person. There were 2 water bottles and toilet paper every day. You have to hang a sign outside for cleaning. The hotel is also very centrally located. The complex is very well maintained and the large pool is also very good. In the small pool, the loungers are covered with towels from the beginning of the day, which is a shame. The reception was very nice and especially the free transfer to the port and back is worth it. It would be nice if the garden bungalows still had bedside lamps. Unfortunately the fridge smells like fish. -via

I stayed too many different places in Thailand but none of the hotel were rude, complicated and old like this one. We chose this accommodation only for the diving school next to it but it was complete regret for me. They’re asking deposit or your id or passport for the room which is very uncommon and unnecessary process and they act like you’re the most famous thief in the world beginning, during and end of the accommodation. They have very expensive price list for the furniture in the room which are very old ones and they want to charge you unevenly for the smallest things. Besides while you are check out they’re checking the room while you’re waiting similar to police investigations. Let’s talk about the restaurant. They’re acting like you’re the problem for them and they’re the rudest people I’ve ever seen in my Thailand trip. They have endless rules in the restaurant and they warn you very rudely for example in case of you sit in front of the restaurant as a three people instead of two. The hotel also does not provide any towels for the beach because it’ gets sandy and they don’t want to do laundry . Let’s talk about the room more. The bathroom was stinky all the time and the pressure of the water was simply not enough even for the short shower with shampoo. The sink faucet was very small and you’ve to touch the sink when you wash your hands. There is no table in the room for to put daily personal items. There were two plug between the beds and two plug behind the wardrobe which was impossible to reach and use properly. There aren’t any dryer racks to hang your swimsuit or laundry and the animals were making a mess all the time in front of the room which is ok for me but not for the clean clothes. They clean the room every two day which is reasonably ok but they don’t allow to change the towels every day (even for the pool towels you should wait two or three days before changing them)
If you want to visit this hotel I believe you need to know all these details and decide better with these informations. Because when you experience small problems every day during the whole accommodation it can be a serious issue by the time. Overall I don’t satisfied from the facilities and check in/out process. Only good thing was diving school otherwise it was a disaster accommodation for me. – via

Diving School: Did my advanced Open Water here while my girlfriend did her open water. Martin was our instructor and I could not speak more highly of him or the program they put out. An easy going, but very knowledgeable individual, Martin was straight forward making sure we knew everything proper, but making sure we were enjoying ourselves. He taught us very well on how to behave underwater and how to approach, but not destroy underwater reefs and features. The dive masters in training, who were supporting our group, were also very warm and welcoming. The gear was top notch, the boats they use were fantastic, and the training facility was built for schooling. We dove over most the islands in Thailand after, as well as Malaysia (currently going to Indonesia next). I previously dove in Belize, and I just think they have done such a good job at Sairee Cottage and on Koh Tao in general. I would recommend this place to anybody looking to get their cert on Koh Tao.
The stay at the cottage: We utilized the discount on stay since going to the dove school, instantly made the accommodation in our stay range. That’s because we normally go very low on price, and got the cottage with no ac and no heated water. The bungalows were just what we were looking for. The temperature outside wasn’t too hot so sleeping wasn’t bad. The temperature was hot enough to make the I heated shower feel soooo great. The staff was nice and welcoming. – via

Fantastic diving centre! All the staff are very experienced and professional but are equally friendly and fun.
Hannah was our instructor for our Advanced Open Water and she was brilliant. Clear communication above and below water. We felt 100% safe at all times and had great fun too!
Equipment and boats were also very good quality. You can see they take care of everything well here.
We also stayed on site at a discounted rate which was good – but being your earplugs as there is a noisy dog which barks a lot through the night! As with the diving centre the staff for the accommodation were also very friendly and extremely helpful. We did love our stay here. – via
