The travel experience, a resort and staff can make or break a vacation.
Ramon’s MAKES the vacation.
The front desk is cheerful and what you want at check in- smiles, pump you up for your trip, laughs and full of tips of fun.
The restaurant and Al’s is full of equally amazing staff and the food is great. Tip: start each day with any smoothie from Al’s menu + the protein boost and you will not be disappointed!
Rooms are comfortable and exactly what you want for an island vacation. The jungle rooms looked very nice but we did beachfront which was worth the upcharge.
Now to activities…
Rick runs a tight, well organized “ship” (and dock) the equipment and boats are well maintained and this crew really shines. Rayo was the best dive instructor I could have asked for to get my PADI certification and Koala took my husband out (he’s been diving for 25+years) and they were wonderful. For our last dive we were with Rayo and Dixon and they and above and beyond knowledgeable-ask for these sea gurus!
We booked a flats fishing charter to the lee side which was beautiful and caught 15 fish, mostly bonefish. Also did the reef fishing charter and caught snapper, a baby shark, large permit and went trolling for conch with Jaico and Will (also amazing guides!). Upon arrival back to the dock, they fileted and prepped the conch and snapper so shore could cook it for us. BEST MEAL OF THE TRIP!
We will be back and highly recommend to any and everyone.
Oh…and the spa? Get the seashell massge. – via

Things to know out of the gate:
– They only serve beer and wine – no hard alcohol or cocktails. There’s a good bar a block away though.
– Rooms don’t have a TV
– It’s right next to the airport. You will hear the small planes taking off and landing all day. It’s quieter at night after the last flights are out though.
– Even if you get an oceanfront suite, you’re not really looking out at a post-card-perfect, wide-open Caribbean ocean. Ramon’s has a few docks right out on the beach with boats and tours in and out all day. There are also hotels to the right and left of Ramon’s that have their own docks, tours, etc.
– It’s still pleasant, but if you’re really looking to stare out over unobstructed crystal-clear water, book a resort north of San Pedro. Or go to Secret Beach for a day.
– The pool is beautiful and like a little grotto, but it was small and really close to the restaurant area. ?? I didn’t use it because I knew I would feel weird in there with people eating so close by.
– Tourists on Ambergris Caye/San Pedro tend to be older Americans/Canadians, or families with kids. The only visible POCs I saw at Ramon’s were the staff and me. Nothing wrong with that, but as a solo female POC traveler, I tend to enjoy being around more diverse groups of people.
I will say that grounds of Ramon’s are beautiful – it’s jungle-y, there are meandering paths and it’s very clean. The rooms are all hut-type structures. My room was a double queen bungalow in the back, which is great since I like to put my luggage on the second bed. It was spacious, clean and came with a coffee maker set up. I loved that it had plenty of outlets and light switches and the AC worked great. Water pressure could have been better, but I never expect it to be great when traveling through tropical countries.
I did go to the restaurant twice – once for lunch and once for dinner. Food was okay, but there are more authentic, less expensive places nearby. I also got a scrub and a massage in the little spa hut on the beach, which was great.
In general, I would say Ramon’s is a good option if you’re older and/or traveling with kids. If you’re solo and/or POC and/or younger, stay at a guesthouse in the middle of town or on Caye Cauker. – via

Ramons Village Resort is the place to stay! Unfortunately we were not able to stay there because it was completely booked. We did however have lunch there one day, we shared the fish tacos which were very tasty! If we come back to Belize, this will be a place I will stay for their beaches, the excursions, the restaurant and their amazing huts! It’s also located within walking distance to the downtown area. – via

From the moment you exit the clamor of the golf carts in the street and enter the sand covered driveway you are entering the serenity of Ramons. Then you meet Jose at the front desk who already knows you by name and you immediately feel at home. And that is just the first 2 minutes… Then everyone knows your name, including Wendy the hostess at the restaurant, Jack the waiter, and Nate at the bar. While San Pedro is a very cool place to visit being able to come back to the quiet of Ramons makes it that much better. The staff is so wonderful and welcoming you just want to stay a few more days. After seeing what else is available on Ambergas Caye there is no other place to stay than Ramons… We shall return !! – via

Beautiful grounds. Quiet but right in San Pedro Town so you don’t need a golf cart every day. Restaurant is very good and it’s easy to walk to many restaurants in town. Well staffed. Never hesitate to ask for any help or questions. Our WiFi was a little slow at first. Just asked and they fixed it immediately. – via

Wonderful place to stay! Centrally located, dives and excursions are easy to book, the restaurant is just OK, but the service is really fast which is huge in Belize. The pool and beach are incredibly peaceful.
Only issue would be the rooms – beds are sprung and uncomfortable, and the location is very close to the airport, so there is a lot of early morning propeller noise. – via
