Parrots was recommended to me by a friend that lives on the island, we did a cave tour that was free we just had to pay for the TukTuk ride out to the other side of the island and we climbed into a small “secret” cave. the owner Alfred of Parrots led the way by placing candles and when we got to the end we dove under a fresh water pool into a cavern filled with water, it was quiet and serene and was a nice change of scenery compared to the hot and muggy weather on the rest of the island. The next day we booked a few fun dives with Belen and it was fun and hassle free. We got to see and eagle ray as well as numerous other fish. These guys have to be some of the most laid back people on the island. Will definitely be back. – via

Great diving experience and lovely people!
Marlon and the team at Parrots were awesome. Marlon took us to a variety of interesting sites and pointed out some very cool sealife. We felt safe and had fantastic time. The whole team were so lovely and flexible with our booking times. They also gave some great recommendations about what to do on the island. I would 100% recommend this school for your dive trip to Utila. Diving at Parrots was a highlight of our trip for sure. – via

I did my Rescue & Divemaster courses here and I couldn’t be happier with the decision to do it at Parrots. All staff are professional, competent, accommodating and they make the whole experience fun. The shop is filled with chill and friendly vibes and it has always been a pleasure to hang around. Parrots is so much more than a dive shop, it is a family, and I’m so glad to have been part of it.
The team go above and beyond to not only provide lots of support during the classes & dives, but also to make sure our time on the island was well spent. There were plenty of activities and trips that Alfred was more than happy to organise for us.
All in all, Parrots is the perfect place to stay and take your dive courses or go fundiving. I’ll always cherish the memories! – via

I got my open water certificate at Parrot’s while my partner did a reactivate programme and his advanced open water certificate. We were overall pleased with the experience though it was a bit unorganized at times (times for classes etc sometimes changed at short notice). My instructor Carlos was really good, very knowledgeable and great at explaining theory as well as very good at instructing during the diving, I felt very safe with him! Some of the equipment was a bit old but as far as I could tell everything was safe. The owner Alfred was also very helpful and found us a cheap apartment to rent, he also took us to the fresh water caves. I recommend Parrot’s unless you want everything very organized!
EDIT: now it has been five months since I did my Open Water at Parrot’s and I still haven’t received my PADI certification so if this is important for you to receive it quickly maybe another place is a better option. – via

Wraz z ?on? zdecydowali?my si? zrobi? kurs open water w Parrots Dive Center i zdecydowanie nie ?a?ujemy!
Wró?my jednak do samego kursu…
Pocz?tkowo chcieli?my zrobi? kurs na Roatanie, ale by?o dro?ej, bez ?adnych “bonusów”, a wi?kszo?? szkó?ek oferowa?a tylko filmiki do obejrzenia we w?asnym zakresie.
Tutaj jest zupe?nie inaczej. Pierwszego dnia obejrzeli?my 2 z 5 filmów w klimatyzowanej salce, nast?pnie omówili?my je sobie z naszym divemasterem, a nast?pnie zrobili?my pierwsze testy w wodzie.
Drugiego dnia zdali?my 2 pierwsze testy teoretyczne, obejrzeli?my filmiki 3 i 4, umówili?my je i zdali?my kolejne 2 testy teoretyczne.
Trzeciego dnia obejrzeli?my ostatni film oraz rozwi?zali?my ca?o?ciowy test z?o?ony z 50 pyta?. Nast?pnie zrobili?my pierwsze 2 nurkowania do 12m i jeszcze raz prze?wiczyli?my “skillsy”, które nauczyli?my si? wcze?niej, lecz tym razem na g??bszej wodzie.
Szcz??liwie trafili?my do Australijki – Cary, która z ca?ego serca polecamy! Sam mam cz?sto problemy ze zrozumieniem wszystkiego, natomiast u Cary rozumia?em ka?de zdanie i s?owo, a je?li go nie zna?em, to t?umaczy?a je innymi s?owami. De facto mieli?my 2 w 1 – lekcje nurkowania i angielskiego – jak si? w mi?dzyczasie okaza?o, wcze?niej by?a nauczycielk? angielskiego 🙂
Podsumowuj?c, z ca?ego serca polecam, a najwi?ksze plusy to:
+ atrakcyjna cena
+ fajne bonusy
+ genialna wycieczka do jaski? w cenie
+ ?wietna instruktorka Cara
+ przemi?a, rodzinna atmosfera, wszyscy s? dla siebie niesamowicie mili
P.S. aaa i jeszcze jedno. – via

From my first email contact with the owner to my last post-dive debrief I had an extremely positive and enjoyable time with Parrots Dive Centre. The communication before my arrival was always useful and to the point. The staff members were professional, thoughtful, and attentive at all time…from the initial reception to the very detailed, reliable dive instruction. I have only good memories and would return without a second’s hesitation. – via

Parrots is FAMILY! My partner and I planned to stay 4 days and ended up staying 3 weeks!! Parrots is a little, cosy reality, with both local and international instructors who will make you live a very genuine hondureñan experience (not comparable to any other diving school in Utila). The owner of the place has treated us as friends, and he was welcoming and helpful way beyond a classical professional duty. The instructors are all GREAT! Very patient, clear and easygoing. We miss so much our Parrots family, and we thank them again for making us love diving so much 😉 see you very very soon for the dive master course guys!! 😉 – via

Parrots is not just a great dive center but a family! One of the best experiences i have had in months!
I came to dive for 2-3 days in Utila and then keep making my way to Belize. Not planing on making deep connections or frankly using more time than necessary to take my advanced diver certificate….but then I met Roberto and Ricardo two of the diver instructors, they with all the others made me super comfortable both above and underwater with their extremely professional tho relaxed attitude to diving. I was lucky to have Roberto was my diver instructor, and i could not have been in better hands. I Have dived in 5 different countries but I have never felt so relaxed and safe in the water as i did with Roberto. He is super observant and very clear in his instructions, all while he playfully points out all the marine life around you. It is very clear that diving is his passion and that showing and being able to share that passion with other people is something very special to him.
The ones who knows Parrots know that you can’t talk about Parrots without mentioning Allen. Allen is the captain of the parrots boat but also everybody’s ray of sun! With his incredible sense of humor and happy diminor i found it impossible to be in a bad mood around him. Miss you Allen!
Parrots is owned by the energy bomb Alfred who is just as amazing and full of energy as the place it self. Not only does he learn all the names and hang around the shop but he also worries about everyone like we are his children. Eventhough he has a lot going on he takes his time to get to know everyone and help if there is any kind of problems. whether its related to diving or not
I have been solo travelling for 10 months in latin America and after many months of moving around every 2-3 days not finding rest. I found peace and a home in Utila with Parrots dive center.
It might not be the best looking place or have the best facilities you find on the island… but the people, Pancake (the cat) and Cornelius (the rooster of the dive center) make it feel like home and will not only steal your hearts but make you wish you could stay forever!
The only thing i regret about Parrots is that i couldnt stay for longer.
Parrots is not just a great dive center but a family.
Thank you for everything. I miss you all and I will make my return! – via

Spent the week working on my open water certification with my instructor Ricardo who was extremely knowledgeable and experienced. Made sure we were comfortable before our dives and that all our gear was put on correctly and functioning correctly. He spent time with each of us specifically if we were having trouble with our skill. Robert, who was a dive master in training also proved to be very useful and good at keeping us calm and collected. Each dive we took was better and better. The owner, Alfred, made it a point to stop to us after each dive and ask us how our experience went and was extremely enthusiastic about all of our dives. The whole staff, including pancake, treated us like family. I will be returning for my advance course and could not possibly recommend them enough! – via
