Amazing dive shop. Lorraine was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in advising and finding me good gear for my upcoming scuba trip. They’re also one of the few stores that doesn’t charge for the in-person part of the nitrox certification. They even have an underwater photography specialist that offers courses on the weekends. – via

I was very weary of trying for my open water certification again after having a very bad experience with another shop.
Lorraine and Rob made me feel very much at ease and took extra care with any skills I didn’t immediately understand. They keep the class size very small and I think that made a huge difference from the discounted classes I took with another shop.
I was able to complete the certification with their referral down in Florida. Can’t recommend them enough! – via

Five Stars! I did my pool (NYC), open water (Mexico), and advanced (Mexico) trainings with Sean at Pan Aqua and he was a star instructor, a terrific trip organizer, and really goes above and beyond to spread his infectious joy for diving. As a new diver, I felt I was in good hands with Sean, and feel confident in my training. I’m sure the other instructors are terrific as well and Pan Aqua is a great shop for all things scuba. Highly recommend! – via

An opportunity for a trip to the Caribbean came up and after over a decade of not diving, I decided to take a reactivate course. Panaqua came highly recommended and did not disappoint. Staff member Brian was very helpful in setting up my refresher session in the pool on short notice. My instructor Rich Lowe was knowledgeable, thorough and patient as we worked through the mandatory skills checklist. While I knew the skills theoretically, I hadn’t been diving in so long that I was a bit anxious about a few of the deep water skills, and Rich made sure to ease me into those. I now feel ready to step back into an open water dive. I highly recommend this dive center and this instructor. – via

Pan aqua is the premier, full service diving facility. Through Pan Aqua, I was able to do my confined water classes, open water certification dives, advanced open water certification dives, and nitrox certification. The dive instructors are kind and thoughtful, but also fun and enthusiastic. When it came time to buying some of my own dive equipment, the salesman are knowledgeable and helpful. To add on top, Pan Aqua hosts well planned trips to enhance your diving experience. I went on an adventurous trip to Mexico with some of the staff. Many people ask me how I as able to get certified while living in Manhattan and it was because of Pan Aqua – via

After several years of not having the opportunity to scuba dive, I needed to reactivate my diving skills with a refresher course. My instructor Lisa McIntyre is simply the best, and her passion for scuba diving is quite evident. Lisa is extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and, most importantly, patient. After spending the first forty-five minutes setting me up with a properly fitting mask, snorkel, fins, and wet suit, she then showed me what to look for while inspecting a tank; including how to ensure the air is fresh and what the pressure gauge should read for a correctly filled tank. We then covered attaching the tank properly to the BCD, connecting the air hose to the regulator, and inspecting that the mouthpiece was working before reviewing the remaining apparatus on the BCD. Once in the pool, Lisa quickly had me relax underwater by breathing slowly and rhythmically as she put me through the refresher checklist, which included mask clearing, clearing the regulator, buoyancy floating, removing and reinserting weights, out-of-air exercises, and so much more. I can’t reiterate enough how outstanding of a teacher Lisa is, and I was thrilled how quickly my underwater skills returned after about 90 minutes in the pool. Thank you, Pan Aqua, and thank you, Lisa, for giving me the confidence to return to diving! – via

Had to buy a basic scuba set-up for my daughter, who is heading to a marine science program soon. We are both total newbies. The staff was welcoming, patient, and seemed to be only concerned with getting my daughter the stuff that fit well and would keep her comfortable for long periods of time in the water. No upselling. We were in the shop for at least 90 minutes trying on things and making sure everything was just right. Spent quite a bit, but when we checked the prices online later just to see, everything was priced extremely fairly. Excellent shop! Would 100% recommend. – via
