We had a really beautiful 4 nights at Nakia. We kind of fell into the resort by chance and we were really happy we did! If you want to dive, their daughter Julie owns Taveuni Dive Sports which is just 5 min down the hill and we highly recommend. The owners did mention they were looking to sell, so that is something to consider if ownership has changed before you book! We were greeted every day by either Robin or Jim. But if you are looking for info on what to do on the island, their daughter has more local insight. That being said, Robin set up several excursions for us and when the local driver tried to scam us they called them out and made sure we got our money back!
The photos lead you to believe you are right on the water, which you are not, and although I was initially disappointed I got over it pretty quick with the view. We had a rainbow every morning after the short rainfall during breakfast.
The kitchen crew was AMAZING. The food was so good and always offered so much more food than we needed or expected. They packed lunches for our excursions and we could have fed 5 extra people I think! We debated the food plan – you could get by on a budget if you want for cheaper – but we were so glad to have the flexibility in what we ordered. Definitely get anything with fresh fish!
The rooms are great and clean and the little bures are far enough apart you have alot of privacy. We didnt need the pool but we definitely got in it every day. They offer laundry services but we did ours in the sink and there is a clotheline on every porch.
The entire staff was attentive and helped us borrow bikes (short 3ish miles into town), made sure we had transportation everywhere, and made sure we had a great time. Julie and her team from the dive shop along with the staff at Nakia hosted a Kava Ceremony on our last night – the local family environment was such a cool experience!
They have their own water filtration so fresh water in the taps, and solar panels for power and gardens and beautiful flowers everywhere!
Highly recommend and would definitely go back! – via google

5.0/ 5

The ocean views, the delicious food, the kind and friendly staff, and the freshwater pool are just a few of the reasons to stay at Nakia Resort and Dive. This was my sixth trip to Fiji, third time to Taveuni and second time staying at Nakia Resort. I got certified the first time at Nakia in 2023 through their Taveuni Ocean Sports dive shop. So happy we went. Fiji is a glorious place and Taveuni is lush, green and full of the kindest people we’ve ever met from all our travels. The owners and staff are so delightful and we really felt taken care of the entire week. My husband remarked on how stress free I sounded within hours of arrival as we looked out to the ocean from our Sunset Bure patio. Some days we had the windows open for the ocean breeze, but for the hot days the air conditioning was a welcome cool off and worked well. There’s quite a lot to do on the island activity wise from waterfalls, hiking, diving, boat trips and snorkeling or just stay on the resort and relax by the pool. Must dos while there – dive or snorkel the Rainbow Reef though Taveuni Ocean Sports (we did this multiple times and each time was a new spot) take the Lavena Coastal Walk for easy hikes to swim in the pools of waterfalls and the boat ride to see multiple falls along the coastline, and ascend the mountain at Bouma National Park to see and swim amid three waterfalls and be in awe of the incredible views. The food was delicious and there’s plenty of it. Fresh baked breads and they have a huge organic farm so my salad and fresh fruits came straight from the garden everyday. The place is moderately priced and we felt spoiled while there. My husband and I are already planning a return trip. – via google

Stayed in August/September 2023. Robin and Jim are great host and very friendly as well as all their staff. Room was clean and spaciousness, food was fresh and yummy and service as it gets best. Good fresh drinking water straight from tab. The staying felt like we were visiting good old friends and leaving was hard. I’m definitely going back.
I can highly recommended Nakia Resort for divers as the dive resort is in 2 min walking distance. – via google

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Nakia. The hosts, Robin and Jim, were incredibly welcoming and friendly. I loved staying at resort with only 4 bures and no crowds. I highly recommend doing both the Lavena coastal walk and the Tavoro waterfalls. Both were beautiful and can be done together in one day. Robin will help you arrange all the details for the excursions. I recommend getting the meal plan as their food was fresh and excellent (most of the food comes from their onsite garden!) and you’re not getting a better meal elsewhere on Taveuni.
Overall I’m super happy I chose Nakia and can’t wait to go back! – via google

This place is one of a kind. If you wish to find a peaceful, super comfortable, friendly place, it is the place to be in Taveuni. Staff is fantastiq, owners very helpful and kind. Food is great. They also have the most recommandable dive shop in the island.
There are only 3 bungalows and one burger villa for bigger families or groups so it is never crowded. Overlooking the océan, great swimming pool. All is about perfection here. – via google

Loved it there. Food was above and beyond and staff lovely. Owners were fantastic to us and treated us like family. Very kind and willing to do anything. It seemed everything fresh was from their gardens, from juice to veg and the bread home made. Rooms were great and bed very comfy. Slept very well. Views gorgeous as you would expect and could not ask for much at all? Little gripes? Maybe pillow not to my liking but if that is the extent of my grumbles I am a happy man. Vinaka! – via google

This was our second time staying at Nakia and we now feel like family. Robin, Jim and their incredible staff provide the most amazing service with their small, family run resort and I am so glad to have been able to get a bure when COVID derailed our plans, and we were forced to find new accommodations. First, the food is amazing. Some of the best I have had in Fiji and definitely in Taveuni. Second, the accommodations while modest and simple, are incredibly well equipped with air conditioning, mini fridge, shower with plenty of hot water and pressure, comfortable beds, amazing views, and daily maid service, the perfect landing pad after a morning filled with incredible diving. Third, Robin treats all her guests like family, chatting you up at dinner and sharing knowledge about Fiji and the incredible island of Taveuni. She is an excellent reflection of her very friendly and talented staff, all with whom I felt like family. And fourth, the land itself on which Nakia resides perfectly reflects the magic that is Fiji. Complete with organic local garden, wild native jungle filled with wildlife, horses and dogs and cats to greet you , beautifully manicured gardens, and the best sunsets on the island, nature lovers will not be disappointed. If you like to dive and eat well, with a home style gathering feel, this is the resort to book. – via google

(Translated by Google) We had the chance to stay 10 days at Nakia dive & resort. We had the Sunset Bure which gives a magnificent view of the Somosomo Strait. Some even saw whales during our stay. The resort is made up of 3 bures and a house, as much to tell you that the calm is there. The cuisine prepared the same day is simply excellent, the chefs did not hesitate to make us tailor-made dishes according to the catch of the day or our expectations. On the last evening a small concert was organized where we were able to taste the local drink. A special attention to the manager of the place Robin, who will make sure that everything goes as well as possible and above all who will come and tell you various little anecdotes during your free time. If you want a place to relax and have a great vacation, I highly recommend this resort.

– via google

If you want a quiet, family-run resort with hospitable hosts and staff, and stunning scenery for a reasonable price, then stay at Nakia!

My husband and I had the immense pleasure of staying at Nakia for our visit to Taveuni. At the outset we were told that they aimed to treat us like family, but I said to my husband ” I dont know anyone who is that accomodating to their family.” Everyone went out of their way to make us feel at home and strived to help us do all we wanted on our vacation. Asita, Titi, Ron, Va, Shubs, Joeli, and the other staff knew our names and habits from day 1. Jim, one of the owners, took the effort to know what each of his guests were up to every day, checking in with us in the evenings on how the day had been. Robin was unfortunately away during our visit, though we would love to meet her. Julie, who runs Taveuni Ocean Sports, was also gracefully helping to run the resort and ensure that our planned diving mornings ran smoothly. This varied from a quick check in about plans, to communicating these with the staff at Nakia.

And don’t get me started on the food. The portions were generous and the food delicious. Nakia also grows much of their own produce. On one occassion when I asked for coconut water, they let me know to wait a few minutes because someone needed to climb the coconut tree. They also quickly learned my love of passionfruit, and brought me the last one on the morning of our departure.

Taveuni is a quieter island with a more remote feel, and you are subject to the whims of nature here. There are rainstorms and mosquitos to contend with. But, at Nakia, we felt entirely comfortable. The staff were so attuned to our needs, always ready with a mosquito coil, that we were able to appreciate the magnificence of this place. Countless times I sat outside, sipping hungrily at a cup of homemade chai (which I highly recommend) and enjoying the ocean view. They also now have air conditioning in the bures, which offers respite on the hotter days.

Needless to say, we are already planning our next visit. – via google
