We went there for sunrise trekking it was good experience. Starting is really normal but after the first stretch it’s bit difficult though the descending path is really easy but but slippery so bring your best gripped shoes. Also at the pick it was to windy at times so keep your jacket and warm hat with you. Views from there is super cool when the sun rises we got to know that behind the mountain there’s a ocean on which we can see the reflection of sun – via google

– via google

This was my 2nd time with Carpe Diem liveaboard and to say that it didn’t disappoint is an understatement. The boat is as good as liveaboard can get, cooking is excellent and diving… well, we got extremely lucky with schooling hammerheads, bunch of tiger sharks and even whaleshark passed by. So, the only complain I had was, that I had to leave eventually. Oh and thanks Bernie for helping us to figure out where to pleasantly spend a day in Male waiting for connecting flight! – via google

In February 2024 I did the Deep South Trip on the Carpe Diem.
It was a great experience overall. Great Crew, amazing food (also for vegetarians) and some really good diving. Special thanks to Munkko, our guide and the Dive Team leader on the boat.
Very nice cabins, cleaned every day and not mouldy.
For the diving itself: everything was well organised, the dive boat is spacious and even though the conditions sometimes were a little bit rough, I never felt unsafe.
Briefings could have been a little bit more enthusiastic some times but thats the only negative thing I could say.

Overall 5/5 stars! Def recommend going on a Trip with them 🙂 – via google

I joined Carpe Novo on the Deep South tour. This was my first liveaboard and it was a brilliant week.

– Diving: 10/10! We saw everything – schools of reef sharks, threshers, tigers, mantas, hammerheads, and a brief whale shark encounter. Someone in our group even had a large pod of dolphins passing through on a safety stop.
– The Boat: Spacious, super clean, and to have al fresco dining was great to have!
– The Crew: Extremely attentive and friendly.
– The Food: Incredible! The crew also caught fresh fish most days to supplement the main dinner with sashimi, tuna steaks, prawns etc etc. Really the amazing food from the chef was such a big part of the trip!
– The beach BBQ was idilic!

I plan on returning to Carpe Novo in a few months! – via google

5.0/ 5

A week on the liveaboard of the Carpe Diem in the south of the Maldives is over and I am richly gifted with countless breathtaking moments under water. If you love sharks as much as I do then this tour is definitely worth it! About the Carpe Diem itself: The boat and especially the cabins (including the ones at the lower deck) are absolutely beautiful, always clean and very spacious. The cuisine is excellent – even for vegetarians (and I value good food!). The dinghy is great too, and the entire dive process went smoothly with only one small exception where the engine was damaged, which was quickly repaired with a lot of effort, so that we were able to do all 3 dives despite the problem! Wow! All crew members are so on point, so friendly and helpful, super organized and always with a smile on their faces. I loved that! The best for last: the dive guides! I can only speak of Munkko, because he was ours: I have never had such an extremely funny, humorous, open-hearted, hard-working and competent dive guide as him!!! Really! He was definitely born to bring joy to people’s life and make them smile ???? THANK YOU Munkko, thank you Carpe Diem for this unforgettable trip! As you can assume: I can recommend it a 100 percent! Cheers, Alex – via google

Disappointing in a word… Having dived with Carpe Diem once in 2019 …

2.0/ 5

Disappointing in a word… Having dived with Carpe Diem once in 2019 on a ten day trip – we decided to spend a week on Carpe Diem again, this time on a deep south tour in Feb 2024.
Frustratingly the currents were outgoing – which isn’t the fault of the company.

I’m not overly a complainer and usually just go with the flow and have a fairly nonchalant attitude, but I believe the following needs addressing, as without honest feedback the company cannot make improvements.

I’ve been on many liveaboards, and dived the deep south on at least ten separate trips.

My disappointments are with the following:-
1. Lazy briefings… for example, “you all know how to use a reef hook right?” and “you all know your signals for night diving with a torch right?” rather, than going through giving a proper briefing.
As a PADI instructor – this is not how it should be done. I explained to some of the divers – check where you hook in is actually rock not coral, and also there’s nothing there that will bite! Remember to inflate your BCD when hooked in, and most importantly don’t forget to deflate your BCD before you unhook! Something the team didn’t feel necessary to explain.

2. No deviation to the plan – the currents were outgoing, however there are other (granted, not many) sites to dive. The crew were pretty rigid, and were just going to go wherever was easiest.
I’ve dived the deep south many times, so whilst the channels are what you are there for, if the conditions aren’t right, then why not dive different sites or the channel walls.

3. Fresh fish caught on the back of the boat was put straight in the bottom of the freezer for use much later – I really have never seen this before on any boat… Usually part the fish is served fresh as sashimi (with the remainder frozen and used another day/night) – there was even wasabi on the boat for using with sashimi – it just seems lazy.

4. The dive leader had a “bad shoulder” that was so bad he couldn’t participate in diving. The next evening he was on the back of the boat reeling in a huge fish.
Seems to me he wanted a day off.

5. I wanted to see if we could arrange a ‘tiger zoo’ trip, but this was not possible as it’s against the company policy, and “dangerous to dive there” as you don’t know if the sharks are still hungry. So the crew took us to the harbour mouth and had us dive the wall right in-front of where the tiger zoo feeding takes place.
If it’s against company policy, then I’m okay with that – it just came across as double standards, and gave the impression they just couldn’t be bothered to organise the tiger zoo experience – I’ve done this dive quite a few times before, so wasn’t that bothered, but some other divers were quite annoyed.

6. And probably worst of all – water bottles….
…We were all given a refillable water bottle for the duration of the trip, to save on plastic water bottle waste – most liveaboards do this, and is good to look after the ocean with less plastic. There was also a plumbed in water cooler, so perfect. At the end of the trip to my horror – the dinghy went and got supplies (assume for follow weeks trip), along with a hundred or more 1.5litre water bottles, and filled up the water bowsers with water from the water bottles – what’s the point in that. Picture attached.

Generally the crew were good, and made a lot of effort for a beach BBQ which was nice. It seems somewhere over the years the enthusiasm of the team has been lost.

Some of the dives were enjoyable and the fellow divers onboard were a good bunch which made the trip.

Sadly I won’t be diving with Carpe Diem again – I’ve been on many Emperor liveaboards, which I find more customer centric, and there is alot of choice out there. – via google

Incredible trip!! This was our first live aboard experience, but it’s now the only way I want to dive. The Dive Team was exceptional, and the boat staff were amazing. The diving speaks for itself, it’s out of this world. Schools of 50+ White Tips, endless Mantas, Tigers, all the impressive large fauna you can imagine. Also, the reefs were BEAUTIFUL. We’d been warned that the Maldives reefs were quite bleached… not at all the case where we were. I can’t say enough good things. We will be back. Three cheers to Maazen and the whole team. The Canadians will return!! Super far journey for us, and worth EVERY kilometre. Oh ya… Whale Sharks. – via google

4.0/ 5

Cons:
Boat needs some renovation (mold in the bathroom)
No night cruising, reducing number of dives
Dive guides missed 3 diving spots (channels) in our route (within 4 days)
Weak in-between meals offer (only cookies)
No special arrangement for specific dates (e.g. Christmas, new years)
Average cost benefit – Price point raises expectations higher than reality
Overpriced internet access – Cheaper to get a SIM card at the airport in advance
Weak alcohol offer (4-6 EUR bottles) and sold at 7-8x European price point (origin)

Pros:
Big cabins and good supporting diving boat (dhoni)
Helpful dhoni crew before divings
No night cruising allows better sleep
Average food quality for vegans (usually rice, lettuce, and curry vegetables)
Diving towels washed daily

Not related to the boat:
10 days channel route has dive sites with a lot of sharks, and mantas cleaning stations (visited in December) – via google

(Translated by Google) We have had a very good experience diving with them. The boat is very well equipped, the food delicious and the staff attentive. The only thing I would have liked is that they had told us that the t-shirts that they give you at the end of the trip cost 30 USD and not be surprised when you pay the final bill. In all the vidabordos that I have been, they gave you the t-shirt since you do free advertising for them.

– via google

We were a group of 12 spending one week diving and was really good experience. The dive sites were very good, food was delicious, rooms comfortable s and clean. Staff was nice and the guides too!!
We thought the t-shirts were free like all the other live aboard were we’ve been before and at the end of the trip we had to pay 30$ for them. Side from that everything was good, we will repeat. – via google

This company pollutes with plastic ❌.

We are a couple currently traveling at Dhigurah, and yesterday we went to the tip of the island, where we the crew of this boat setting up for a beach picnic. We had a nice chat about them creating a whale shark in the sand, and having 20 large plastic bottles around it with candles in them.

Today we visited the same beach again and the large plastic bottles were left behind only a few meters from the sea.

We cleaned it up and all the plastic filled more than one and a half trash can.

We find this SO sad, especially because they claim to be a sustainable company, and even more because they live of the beautiful wildlife in the ocean.

We hope this will change your behavior in the future.

Regards Maria and Rasmus – via google
