The complex is beautifully embedded in nature, it’s like living in a huge garden on the beach. I spent several nights in one of the accommodation’s tents. It was a great experience. The place is wonderfully quiet and in nature. The team around the manager Simon, as well as himself, are extremely friendly and helpful. I felt very comfortable and welcome. The food there was extremely tasty and for me, as I live vegan, the chef always conjured up something great. There is free tea and coffee every day, water can be refilled at any time, which I thought was great, fewer plastic bottles. I took part in several activities offered there, such as diving, snorkeling, a trip to Chloe Island and everything was great. I learned a lot and the guides treat marine fauna and flora very carefully and considerately. No animals were hunted and attention was paid to protecting the corals.
I used the laundry service once and I can highly recommend that too, clean and fragrant laundry is a nice thing. The humidity and heat were very strong during my stay.
The only shame is that I had to leave at some point ?? I would have liked to have stayed longer! – via google

Very cozy and silent place to calm down and just enjoy, very friendly staff, bungalows have a lot of space but a bit basic, very clean rooms, bed is quite comfortable. Food in the restaurant is very good. A lot of personell do everything to please the guests. Very professional dive center and stuff to take care of all your dive gear, enough space on the three pools. Sand on the beach but not ideal for swimming as there are a lot of rocks in the surf zone (shoes highly recommended) snorkelling on the house reef very nice and close. Spa highly recommended. Enjoying our stay at its best. Many thanks for all the service and hospitality – via google

We spent 6 days with Big Blue diving and staying in tents. Really enjoyed the time. The staff are all amazing no detail missed from the dive staff, restaurant and cleaning staff. Spent our free time relaxing in the common area with beautiful bay to swim in, beach, WiFi, views and bar. Tents are hot… but with fan manageable. Completely recommend. Special thanks to the diving team led by Hammas and Dickson we had some great dives with you and recognised your expertise and experience and human touch. – via google

5.0/ 5

This review is for the dive center & restaurant. Dive Center & Diving — It’s located in the marine reserve. The diving is epic – so many varieties of coral, eel, fish and nudibranch. We saw an octopus or turtle on every dive. We recommend the day trip to Mange Island for diving, sandbar picnic lunch and snorkeling (it’s a 2 hour boat ride each way, but it flies by). The dive staff are experienced and friendly. The boats are locally made – dhows and double decker wooden boat – adding to the experience.
Restaurant — we had lunch at the Big Blu Restaurant. Super fresh and delicious options. Order BEFORE you go out to dive / snorkel — as they cook everything to order and need to plan ahead (if you don’t, expect a 90 minute wait). – via google

3.0/ 5

– via google

Review of Butiama Marine Camp and Big Blue dive center:I stayed in o…

5.0/ 5

Review of Butiama Marine Camp and Big Blue dive center:
I stayed in one of the tents. Very simple/basic, but adequate for the purpose of sleep and fairly cheap (about 25$). There are shared showers (cold water) and shared toilets. It is totally fine, the is “cold”but in these temperatures you won’t freeze, it is rather welcoming cooling. Breakfast is included: fruit platter, eggs of your choice and toast with honey, jam and butter as well as a muffin. You can order dinner of three choices (beef/chicken, seafood and vegetarian). You also get an appetizer and a desert. All for 12$, also very fair price. It is nothing fancy, BUT for me it always tastet very good!
You can chill at the beach and lounge area or read a book there.
The staff is really polite. Yes slow but that is rather due to the mindset of steady but slow instead of laziness. So be patient and don’t expect European standards. Get into the local mindset and relax!

But Mafia is all about activities:
Whale shark snorkeling, scuba diving, hippo watching, lagoon snorkeling, etc.
About BIG BLUE Dive center:
They organize all activities. The staff is also quite nice, polite and open.
I did whale shark snorkeling (amazing), got my advanced open water diving certification and went to KUA lagoon.
The diving is very good, though the water wasn’t perfectly clear. We saw lots of fish, corrals, rays, but the vision could have Bernd better. But this might also be seasonal/tide dependent issue, because one dive was really good clarity wise. And the water is so warm, you will not freeze at all. I had a rental 3mm full suit and I was neither cold nor warm.
So overall experience absolutely recommended!!! – via google

The review is just for the snorkelling tour!!! Not for the Hotel! They sent us in dead corals riff!!!! We thought they don’t go to the right riff because we just two people and it’s maybe not worth it for the company. I would not recommend this company for snorkelling?? – via google

5.0/ 5

Also – einfach ansprechen. – via google
