Excellent dive with La Jolla Dive last Monday. The rental gear was in good order, and Julian was a super knowledgeable dive master. I felt safe and comfortable. Conditions weren’t great, and we had to move our dive from the Cove to the Shores to stay safe (I was given the option of cancelling). When we came back from dive one, the conditions had worsened, so the 2nd dive was cancelled and the refund was in my bank before I had time to grab a coffee. So while the dive itself was challenging due to the weather, La Jolla Dive were excellent to deal with and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. – via

Unorganized and chaotic. I’ll preface this by saying I am a new diver and will not pretend that these conditions were not unbelievably challenging. Scheduled a 2 tank dive for 8am. Changed the time of the meeting to 7 am at 7:30 the night before and despite the text saying to reach out with questions did not respond to one I had. I arrived promptly at 7am and we waited around for almost an hour while they got equipment sorted prior to getting moving. Seemed to lack proper equipment options and sizing for all in the group. I ended up with fins that were the wrong size. Conditions were a rough and we were briefed about the dive and entry. Got in the water, which was challenging given conditions. Two divers had to go back because they did not put weights in- instructor seemed agitated and blamed it on the customers. Then another two divers needed to go back due to issues. Rest of group waited floating for over an hour prior to being able to dive. For the group of our size we should have had more support or a smaller group. Finally got down and viability was pretty awful. I had to clear my mask several times and in that time lost the group. I surfaced after the two minutes of looking for my dive buddy and took forever for the instructor (my buddy) to realize I was missing. Was meant to feel like I was the problem and instructor barked orders to try to get us together again, Got back to shore and was exhausted and freezing given the amount of time we waited in the water to get moving. Decided not to do the second dive, as did many. Of course- no refund could be offered even after requested and sharing my experience. Although I am a novice diver this experience was terrible compared to others I have had. I felt it lacked organization, customer service mindset, and preparation for the conditions here. Skip this dive and company. – via

– via

Outstanding service and very convenient to diving La Jolla cove. Chris had everything I needed covered to dive and Rick was the best dive master.
Chris kindly answered my many questions before the dive day. He worked to get everything set up and ready to go ahead of time. The shop met all my aire and equipment needs.
Rick has a very casual diving style, but a very keen eye for each diver’s needs. He was quick to note any equipment configuration concerns and clearly stated the dive plan as well as answered all questions. The dive went smoothly as he guided me through the cove. We had an excellent experience around 90 feet and popped up very close to the shore for a short swim back. Outstanding day. – via

We live in Santa Monica, CA. We went to La Jolla to scuba dive with expectations of some cool critters. None of us have been there to dive, so we went to La Jolla Dive for the “dive tours”. We are all advanced divers with 30-500 dives between us depending on person. I’m the 30.
We booked the two tank La Jolla Cove and La Jolla Canyon dive and the La Jolla Canyon night dive. Peter was a dive guide on the La Jolla Cove and La Jolla Canyon dives and Brandon on the La Jolla Canyon night dive.
La Jolla the area did not disappoint. La Jolla Dive, Peter and Brandon and the owner (whose name I can’t recall this sec.) were EXCELLENT. I would not go to another shop even if given the choice and free dives. They listen, they give a detailed dive overview, they ask what you want to see and try to find it, they bring spare gear and extras “just in case” and they are passionate about diving. I run a firm. I wish all my staff could dial in and be as good as these guys were with all our customers. I’m sure they can have their off days but the days for us were A+.
So, if you want to dive in La Jolla, anywhere, contact La Jolla Dive. Brandon is one of the main night dive guys, Peter was our day dive, there is a Madison but we did not meet her… and a cool owner. When you get to La Jolla Shores, the space is in the alley behind the main shops. But very easy to find and has a lot of dive gear (no retail, this is an action shop). – via
