Steady winds in the afternoon. Shallow water near beach, great for beginners. Going further in a little is safer for jumps. Mountain view from the water, sunset sessions. The kite camp has solid wifi if you need to work from here. This place is more than a kitesurfing spot though. This small fishing village – where you eat freshly caught seafood every day far away from the rushing everyday life – is a meeting spot for people from all around the world. Riin and Helen and the whole team at kite buen hombre is amazing. The kitespot with both flat water and waves is beautiful and is literally just a few meters away from the camp with its cute and cozy bungalows. In case you need to work – no problem – the wifi is reliable and fast. I also highly recommend the camp for solo travellers because the community vibe is great. You always eat both breakfast and dinner together at a long table and get to know everyone else right away. I can also highly recommend their downwinders – 7 islands, playa popa and cayo arena – I did them all and enjoyed kiting in mangroves, waves as well as flat water. – via

It was an absolutely epic experience from start to finish. We were sad to have to leave. The spot is perfect for beginners and advanced kiters, offering a full range of conditions.
The school itself offers incredible service and accommodation. We opted for the private villa just a few hundred ft from the kite spot. The villa was great. Every day when we arrived at the kite spot, we were welcomed with smiling faces eager to assist with setting up our equipment and getting us on our way.
My partner took a lesson with Micky, who was amazing and assisted in getting her to an independent level. Johnson and Machaca were also incredible help with launching and landing kites and helping with setup.
The school also offers a secure place to leave you gear at the spot so we didn’t have to carry it around at all.
The dinners were also great. Besides the food the it was a great way to decompress from a long afternoon of kiting and share the stoke with the other kiters.
We did 2 incredible downwinders, which was a huge accomplishment for my partner as they were her first.
Owner Riin and manager Helen were extremely helpful and welcoming.
By the end of the trip, we felt like family, and we look forward to visiting Kite Buen Hombre again very soon. – via

I had the most amazing time with Kite Buen Hombre. I stayed with them in one of their bungalows overlooking the sea. It felt like I had stepped into the kiters paradise that you only ever hear of but never dream of seeing. Buen Hombre is a beautiful quiet kiters spot perfect for beginners and advanced kiters alike.
Kite Buen Hombre took such good care of me. As a solo women traveller they took me under their wing and made me feel so at home there I didn’t want to leave. Your happiness and well-being is their top priority. I’m a vegan and they made sure that there was always a proper meal waiting for me at breakfast and dinner.
The kite school is really well managed and has a great supportive atmosphere. I took an advanced lesson from their head instructor Micky in how to jump. And in 20 minutes I was landing my jumps. He is an incredible teacher and I could not recommend him enough, I have seen him put smiles on beginners and intermediate kiters.
Cabarete is a super cool place to kite, but to be able to kite in strong winds, with only a handful of kites on the water and with multiple downwinder options. Buen Hombre wins every time.
Definitely would recommend Kite Buen Hombre again and again. Big shout out to Helen, Riin & Eva for making it all happen. – via

A kite school with integrity. I organized an instructor and rental gear from them but the neighboring kite school went out of their way to prevent the gear and instructor from getting on their boat as my friends has booked with the other kite school (Friendly kite). They forced me to work with them instead. Regardless of Friendly Kite’s instruction, that behavior is unacceptable for any business. – via
