Well run program from beginning to end, excellent experience for Open Water certification. Trisha is a talented and patient teacher that is clearly experienced and passionate about diving. The pool sessions are well run and prepare you for the ocean dives, which are a lot of fun. My daughter (12 years old) and I completed our PADI open water certifications through Pacific Ocean Sports in Jan 2024, and we can’t recommend them enough!!!! Throughout the classes, we had a chance to see 5 instructors (Trish, Sean, Bob, Ryan and Josh), and ALL of them were patient, provided us clear instructions, tried understanding each of our comfort levels, and were very encouraging. My daughter had a bad headache at Day 2 of pool session and unable to complete all requirement on that day, they kindly accommodated us separate date to complete pool session so we can complete session in Montrey as we originally planned.
My husband and older boys got certified through them a couple of years ago (and they all were so happy with POS as well!). My daughter and I were a bit intimidated by their story on how cold Montrey water and bad visibility would be….turned out, water in Montrey was very comfortable (with wetsuit), and we had a good visibility both days and truly enjoyed our experience with POS. I had an awesome time learning how to dive with Ryan, Trish and Sean! The training was detailed and thorough. I feel confident in my ability to dive in cold water. The shop is great too! There are ton of new and used equipment. I will definitely be visiting this dive shop for all my diving needs.

Highly recommend Pacific Ocean Sports. I just completed my Open Water Diver Certification. They take safety very seriously and are accommodating, inviting, and extremely passionate. The instructors I had (Ryan and Brandon) have years of experience and made me feel comfortable and confident even when I was a little unsure of myself. Once you get out into Monterey Bay for your open water dives is when you really understand what drives people into doing this. The confined water dives were done at the pools at Heather Farms, which is a great facility and heated. There was no pressure to buy anything afterwards. My diving buddy took this picture so bring your waterproof video camera when doing the open water dives. Thanks Pacific Ocean Sports! – via
