My partner and myself booked an ATM tour with Kawiil and had THE best experience! We were picked up by Louis in the morning and driven to the cave where we got kitted up with helmets and water before starting the 45 minute walk to the entrance. The whole way along he spoke about the history of the cave and the Mayan culture and what led the people to begin performing these sacred rituals. By the time we had arrived (after 3 creek crossings and amazing rainforest scenery), we had such a better understanding of what we were about to witness. He made the tour so much fun by always cracking a good joke and whilst also being respectful of our surroundings, the three of us were always having a good laugh. It is very obvious that he has a wealth of knowledge and I am so glad we had a guide who has being doing this tour for so many years! Once we finished, and had arrived back at the carpark, he unpacked a beautiful lunch for us all to share cooked by his lovely wife. Finished off with some delicious home baked banana bread!
We cannot recommend Louis enough! Do not hesitate to book your tour through this local small business. We were there so early that we were the first to enter the cave and were finishing and exiting just as all the major tour companies were arriving.
This goes down as one of the best tours we have ever done in all our world travels! Thank you Louis!! – via
