Very cool adventures. Very fast paced. Zipline went over waterfalls and through a canyon-very cool. Long horse riding adventure through the trees. Tubing down the river was intense and such a unique way to see the forest. The hot springs are a great way to relax after a long day of adventuring. Totally worth it! – via

We booked the combo Oropendola Waterfall, hot springs and lunch combo. We were so impressed with the infrastructure to reach these mountainside miracles.
A well kept trail to the waterfall ended with a hanging staircase, cleverly designed to descend in a narrow canyon space. We enjoyed butterflies, moths, snakes and lizards along the path. So don’t just motor down the path – smell the roses along the way. At the waterfall, we were the only people there on a Monday afternoon. The helpful employee at the bottom cheerfully took our picture. We didn’t swim, because we seriously wanted to get to those hot springs. Cold water didn’t seem like a good prequel.
The thermal springs were a delight. Pick the temperature you desired from Yikes! hot to brrr cold. Many pools to choose from. One of our crew slathered on the mud, but then had to wash off in the COLD water shower. Lots of folks were enjoying it, though.
There were 2 changing areas close to the hot springs. A major changing and locker area close to the parking area and a minor changing area without lockers close to the pools. You also have the option to change at the hotel adventure reception area. Next time, I’ll choose that to have less changing room competition.
Lunch buffet was very much like a typical Tico lunch. We liked it – but we also like eating at local sodas.
This is not an adventure for anyone who can’t walk off road or manage lots of steps. But you don’t have to be in ironman shape, either.
There are so many things to do here, you could spend several days at the hotel and experience so many of the same things offered in La Fortuna. I’m surprised that more people don’t combine a few days in the Taramindo area for beach fun with a few days at the Hacienda for adventure activities. – via

We had an incredible experience with the advanced mountain bike tour here! We did 30km of beautiful, raw singletrack to two secluded waterfalls on nearly brand new ibis Ripley AFs. Most of the ride was XC but the final descent was a fun, ripping flow. Our tour guide Eduardo was extremely friendly and helped us spot snakes and monkeys on our ride. One of our favorite days on our trip to Costa Rica! – via
