I could not be happier with our day of diving with Garfield diving station last week. We are arrived on a cruise ship and they were super accommodating! Maureen was wonderful from the time I reached out to her to schedule our adventure. The meeting point for the dive is only a short walk from the cruise port making it very accessible even if you are carrying all of your own gear. We had the luxury of diving with Captain Alvin and our Dive Master Ray! These two provided a great boat experience and a wonderful time diving. I highly recommend their services and will definitely dive with them on my next visit to Ocho Rios! – via

Dove 6 tanks over 3 days with this outfit. They brought me to multiple dive locations, up to 60 feet. All locations are close by and all unique in their own way, multiple large reefs, caverns and a shipwreck. Both dive instructors were excellent and the captain as well, they took care of all the divers needs all being different experience levels. Maurine was also excellent at communicating pickups, we communicated through what’s app. Highly recommend this outfit they are great to deal with and won’t disappoint!!! – via

Went diving with Garfield today. We had an exceptional time. Ray was my dive master and was super safe. He took us thru a ship wreck of a 50′ boat and thru multiple caves.

Really enjoyed diving with them. Thanks so much Ray and Maureen and the crew. You were all fantastic. – via

The lady is nice until you remind her that they didn’t keep up their end of the deal. She didn’t take responsibility for what happened on a tour they organize and sell! We found out that the actual snorkeling time we had was less than 1 hour when our deal was for 1.5h and we told her this. She not interested in solving problems, customer service, hospitality. Instead her attitude was “I didn’t make the instructor get out of the water early, I can’t do anything. Don’t complain, I already gave a discount to you in the beginning. All I can do is that you can go back”. Well, she gave a $5 discount for 1.5h, not for less time, to begin with. Second, we were already out on the pier at that point, so with going to the reef and coming back, we would only have 10-15 minutes left, so what she “offered” was not worth it at all. The captain was aware of the situation but didn’t say anything at the boat either, just accepted the situation, back in the tier and apologized.

The lady even tried to come out on top by saying ” So what you are showing me now that I shouldn’t give discounts any more” and “other shop asked for 60usd”. Who said that we were going to pay them 60, anyway?

What a great outing with Garfield Diving Station from the ease and clarity of setting up the reservation to the thorough communication upfront. We came in on a cruise and they are in the marina next to the cruise terminal.

Maureen, Ray (Divemaster) and the boat captain were excellent. They helped us onboarding our gear, preparing the gear and gearing up. Ray made sure the dive sites met our interests plus factored in weather conditions. The dive plan was clear and concise. Ray was quite the gentleman. He catered to each diver as necessary. Ray provided valuable insight for divers that could benefit in improving techniques.

During the dive, Ray allowed the divers to define tempo. We enjoyed seeing the marine life (which Ray was able to help us find)..

We’d recommend Garfield Diving Station. – via

Dived yesterday November 6, 2023, with Garfield Dive Center. Great time and well organized. I’m Divemaster myself. Ray was great very experienced and professional. Good equipment. Well run boat nice size for the five of us diving with Ray. Maureen meeting us and doing the paperwork was brilliant. Dived the Katherine wreck and Dickies Reef both good dives. – via

Our dive guide also prepared the equipment for us, which went well so far.
Unfortunately, when I got off the boat, I was pushed, which was stupid for me because I recently had knee surgery and just wanted to take my time. (Had also ticked that in the questionnaire)
Under water I got the impression that the guide didn’t want to understand that we didn’t have that much experience and didn’t want to dive certain entrances and caves.
Perhaps this should have been better communicated in the dive briefing at the beginning.
Or a no on our part under water must be accepted more quickly

Unfortunately, I didn’t have the secure feeling that I need as a beginner diver.

From the diving spot but the best here in Jamaica.
Nice wreck cool canyons and caves.
But I was still glad that we had only booked one dive, because I would have had a bad feeling about the second dive right from the start.

More experienced divers would probably not have had a problem with the guide.

Toller Tauchspot am Wrack.
Unser Tauchguide hat uns auch die Ausrüstung vorbereitet was soweit alles gut gepasst hat.
Beim Einstieg vom Boot wurde ich aber leider geschupft, was für mich blöd war da ich vor kurzem eine Knie OP hatte und mir einfach Zeit lassen wollte. (Hatte das im Fragebogen auch angekreuzt)
Unter Wasser hatte ich den Eindruck das der Guide leider nicht verstehen wollte das wir noch nicht so viel Erfahrung haben und gewisse Eingänge und Höhlen nicht betauchen wollten.
Das hätte vielleicht in der Tauchgangs Besprechung zu Beginn besser kommuniziert werden müssen.
Bzw ein Nein unserer Seits unter Wasser schneller akzeptiert werden müssen

Mir hat somit leider das sichere Gefühl gefehlt welches ich als Tauchanfänger benötige.

Vom Tauchspot aber der beste hier auf Jamaika.
Schönes Wrack coole Canyons und Höhlen.
Ich war aber trotzdem froh das wir nur einen Tauchgang gebucht hatten, da ich zum zweiten Tauchgang dann schon zum Start ein ungute Gefühl gehabt hätte.

Erfahrenere Taucher hätten vermutlich kein Problem mit dem Guide gehabt. – via
