Dove the 3-tank shark dive with Emerald Charters. WOW! I had a great time. Jess was a fantastic dive guide. Captain and mate were great as well. Jess really goes out of her way to explain the finer details of differences between shark species, and gives you an education on sharks. In fact, her briefings between dives and after the dive is enough to earn you a PADI shark specialty diver certification if you’re so inclined. I’ve done a shark dive with another operator out of Jupiter and all I can say is THEY ARE BOTH GREAT!. All I can say is I wish I would have brought my camera gear. I’ll be back for more shark diving with Emerald Charters again. – via

Great experience diving with the sharks. Randy and the team are cool! Very relaxed atmosphere. I’d say for this kind of diving you should be very comfortable diving alone and being aware of the sharks as there are many. I had an issue with another diving shop as my nitrox cert wasn’t available, thankfully randy was happy for me to do 3 dives on air, which is the norm for everywhere except the USA apparently. I rented all my equipment, tanks and weights for around $100 from Scuba Works before the dive started, again they were awesome. Can’t recommend the dive enough, thanks to randy and the team for their helpful and pragmatic approach to diving. Definately felt more like a dive club/bunch of friends diving as opposed to a dive school. ?? Recommended – via

The best! We had an incredible time! Today we did three dives, we saw 6 lemon sharks on the first one, 8 lemon sharks, 1 great hammerhead shark, on the 3rd dive we saw the great hammerhead again, more lemon sharks and several nurses. Jonathan who was the one who fed the sharks was Amazing, he really did a great job! I loved his energy! And next to him was Jamie, the security diver, who was also with my husband and me as a solo guide. We are happy to have been able to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary by diving with sharks for the first time. The experience is unique and unmatched. I felt safe at all times. The most difficult thing was the descent and the current since these dives are definitely for advanced divers who know how to make negative entry. We will come back soon! My shark dive with Emerald was awesome!!!!! Nathan, the feeder, is top notch and one of only 100 professional shark feeders in the world! He is highly qualified, entertaining, and made us feel safe. Jeff, the safety diver and Chris, the deck hand were knowledgeable, helpful, and genuinely good souls. Ky was sweet and always checked our air and helped us gear up. We laughed so much with this crew!!! We hung in the water with 6 bull sharks for 30 minutes and later had 2 huge lemon sharks weaving in and out around and within our group. It was the most epic experience ever!!! I’ve already booked my return dive, to see Thor, the famous hammerhead that I missed! Deep gratitude for these guys. The 3 of us really enjoyed the 3-tank shark dive with Emerald charters. Josh the dive guide and shark feeder worked tirelessly to ensure we saw the most sharks on all dives. He even removed 8-10 hooks from the mouths/gills/bodies of sharks during the dive while feeding them!
We saw about 15 sharks total, including 9 on one dive- silky, sandbar, lemons and a nurse. The largest about 9’. We looked for tigers but didn’t see any. Three Goliath groupers at the small wreck were huge- the largest about 5’. The deck hand Liz was also very attentive to our needs. We felt safe and well taken care of.
We have between 65-150 dives each and we’re glad that this outfit did NOT mandate an advanced certification like some other shops in the Miami area and the Keys. They just ensured we had sufficient experience. That’s how it should be instead of just requiring a formal cert.
The gear rental through Jupiter scuba (Georgia) was really easy. I would definitely do this dive again. There are different sharks in the area depending on the season- like hammerheads and bulls. – via Google

I did a shark dive on February 13 , 2022 and It was an amazing experience. The crew was incredibly professional and polite. They definitely knew what they were doing. I cannot recommend this dive enough!!! Shark diving has been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember. A friend recommended emerald charters to and my boyfriend and I booked a trip immediately based on her experience with them. And I can say, it did not disappoint. Captain Randy, Josh and Chris were the best. Josh (our shark feeder) went over the procedures and rules very clearly prior to our first dive so we all knew exactly what to expect from the moment we hit the water. They made you feel extremely safe so the entire time you are able to stay calm and enjoy the experience of swimming with these beautiful animals. These are negative entry drift dives so you need to be prepared to start going down the second you hit the water. Our first dive consisted of 6-7 bull sharks, our second dive had about 12-15 bull sharks and our third dive was with 5 very social lemon sharks. I would absolutely recommend emerald charters to anyone who has experience diving and wants to swim with sharks. My boyfriend and I are already booking our next dive in March in hopes to see a tiger shark! They are not a boat shop so make sure to coordinate any rental items with Jupiter Scuba (you can rent from wherever but through Jupiter Scuba they bring it to you right at the boat) beforehand and check ALL of your gear & tanks prior to the dive. Their focus is on getting you in the water with sharks and the safety of swimming with sharks – not with helping you navigate your gear so be a prepared diver! I can definitely say we will be going back as often as possible. – via Google

Quite interesting and amazing dives. Shark dive trip with Emerald charters was one of the most breathtaking dives I have ever completed. Captain and crew were professional and everything works like a clockwork. Even though they are not the most friendly people, they really know what they are doing. Even though we did not see as many sharks as we could see on any other day, still we saw several bull sharks and lemon sharks. I recommend this charter to anyone who wants to experience the thrill of shirk diving with a professional, competent company.
A few words about the diving with them: Please make sure that you are experienced enough to do this dive. One thing for sure, this is not for everyone. Not because of the sharks or anything unsafe, but it really requires a certain level of experience and fitness, at least for the 3 dives we’ve completed. We were in the middle of the ocean, doing the drift dive with almost no reference. You must keep up with the shark feeder since you are required to be at a certain position relative to the feeder. The feeder moves constantly so you should be able to keep up. Thus, you must really control your buoyancy efficiently. This becomes even harder if there is current and surge.
In short, I strongly recommend these dives but for your own safety and the safety of the other divers including feeder, please make sure that you are fit to do this shark dive. – via Google

The dives were great, Josh ( the DM ) clearly set expectations and we had a great group. The only reason for 4* instead of 5 is because there is little room for error and new drivers should proceed with caution.
The snacks, water, lunch provided were all fantastic. There is no backup equipment on board so that can also be a challenge for folks who don’t know what they are doing.
We left at 8:30 prompt and back at 2. Three dives we saw sharks at each dive site they got very close and overall a great experience. – via Google

Went on Emerald Charters today, 19 June 2022. Overall, the three dives were ok. A few sharks did show up but the visibility was lackluster at best. However, there’s nothing we can do about that. Nevertheless, as far as the charter goes, I felt as though every single person on the boat was “part of the gang” and I was not welcomed. There were no introductions, I was not assigned a dive buddy and essentially just kept up, a felt rushed to get in the water. I think the complacency, moreover, comes from the routine the charter has established – since they operate the same charter seven days a week. – via Google

Finally getting around to writing a review. This is a great dive organization. We did a day on the water with Emerald Charters (3 tank). The first dive was rough, the current kicked us pretty hard when attempting to reach the wreck and feeding area, but once we made it, there were a few lemons and a bull. Most of us were exhausted and the seas were a little rough during the first surface interval, so getting back in the water for the second dive was a relief. We went to a second spot for dive 2 and 3, where the hammerheads were ready for their close ups. The wreck and feeding site had a lot of life (rays, grouper, colorful reef fish and of course sharks). Like any dive, you cannot control the conditions of the water or the presence of the sharks, but even with some ripping current, we were safe and had some amazing encounters with some beautiful sharks. Emerald Charters was absolutely amazing! From start to finish, the whole day was spectacular. Their website was easy to understand and we knew exactly what to bring and what to expect. We ordered nitrox tanks that were waiting for us at the meeting point in the morning along with the boat crew that was friendly and helped to haul everything down to the boat.

Very friendly and professionally run dive boat. The shark feeding during the dives and having to manage everything while drifting was different from anything I’d experienced. Trying to stay where the DM wanted us to stay while drifting and having to maintain awareness of the sharks difficult. I’ve never been kicked so many times by other divers swimming over and under me. The DM wasn’t at fault but I do wish someone would have told me how much it hurts to get hit by a shark. I seriously thought I’d been bitten on my right thigh but then I realized one had grabbed my SMB and shook violently, beating the hell out of my thigh with its snout. The second two dives were blanks due to two Goliath grouper and nurse sharks. A total bummer but I’d still like to do it again. They provided excellent lunch and didn’t make me feel out of place being a solo diver. – via Google

Five Star outfit for important reasons. They are passionate and educated about sharks. The Crew, Josh and Liz care deeply about the sharks and their ecosystem and enjoy sharing their “underwater friends” with us. Sure does clear up a lot of misunderstanding about sharks and shark tours, especially from a fisherman like me. It was amazing to see a bazillion game fish swimming freely along with one or two sharks. I was ignorant to think these guys (sharks and crew) affect my off shore fishing. The experience was not a shark feeding, it was a natural shark interaction in their natural environment. I was the unnatural dude. Also, I have been on several dive boats that also advertise “gourmet lunches” but Emerald delivers. They know somebody who knows somebody that prepares sandwiches from a profession kitchen. All the sauces made from scratch, homemade cookies and sides. Cool boat too. They even had diet coke (took them from 5.0 to 5.1 in my book). Can’t say enough about Josh, the shark guy (follow him). He worked harder underwater than any dive master I ever seen. You have to see Josh underwater for yourself. I understand Liz is the Shark Master on Wed and Sunday. That may be out next Shark Advanture. If your looking for a bourgeois dive boat, Emerald is not yours. If your looking for being a part of a team of crew and divers that really know their stuff, Emerald could possible be the best at what they do. Half of the divers on the boat were seasoned underwater photographers with the best equipment. I felt like they had a good reason for choosing Emerald over and over again. Cool boat too. This is the most unique shark diving experience in the world, and is not for the novice diver, or divers who do not have good control of their buoyancy. Josh does an amazing job calling in sharks of all different species, understanding their behavior and putting on a show, but you as the diver have to do your part.

The crew works hard to make sure all divers are fed, comfortable and happy.

If you’re considering going on a shark dive, Emerald will provide a the best experience in South Florida (and maybe the world), but you should definitely book a charter with a shop that can properly prepare you for the dives before coming on your own. Joined this charter May 28th. It was a 3 nitrox tank shark dive. It was one of the only open water shark dives that I could find. They have a partner business that will deliver and pick up any tanks and equipment you need for the dive. The captain and crew were amazing, they carried all the equipment to the boat and provided a great lunch. On the dive we were able to see 4 different varieties of sharks. The way that the sharks are baited they come right by you. Very close (bring your GoPro). Would recommend this shark dive 10/10 times. Again the best part is they take care of everything. If you are a competent diver with good buoyancy control I highly recommend this trip. If you are a novice diver, a nervous diver or if you need a ridiculous amount of fiddle time you will not enjoy this encounter. It is fast paced and there is a lot of action. Current is often very strong and if divers can not manage themselves it could get dangerous for everyone very fast.

That having been said, if you are a seasoned diver and you want to be almost guaranteed to see sharks on every dive, I highly recommend Emerald Charters. Josh was very knowledgeable and it was fun to learn about the sharks and their individual behavior. Nick and Randy were very friendly and we enjoyed chatting with them as well. Everyone did a great job of keeping all divers safe- even those who were not great at following instructions (please don’t be THOSE people!) and had to be asked or told multiple times do things that would keep everyone safe and ensure we all had a great experience.

Trip was very organized and straightforward. There is a restroom at the parking area, and a marine head on the boat (#2 is ok!). Lunch was a cold cut sandwich and a cookie. Shark diving with Emerald is an incredible experience for anyone who wants to see a variety of species close up and safely. Randy, the company owner, really cares about the customer’s experience that his company delivers, and they deliver! Good humor, beautiful well kept boat, friendly helpful staff, a great lunch and the SHARKS – LOTS OF SHARKS!! On a single dive we saw hammerheads, lemons, tigers and even Goliath grouper – not off in the distance, but up close and personal, looking you right in the eye. Plus the Divemaster is spearfishing live, providing even more amazing entertainment. This company knows how to do it right, on all levels. – via Google

Hands down, the best shark dive trip ever. I have nothing but great things to say from Sam to the owner. Very Helpful. I would recommend to any diver that wants a thrill, but can dive well obviously, its a drift dive. My dive in the Bahamas did not compare. I saw a tiger shark and a bunch of silky sharks. Everything is always great with Emerald Charters! My only complaint is that they don’t have a functional bathroom on the boat, hence the 4 stars. Other than that, Liz and Josh are great on the bait box and everything else was wonderful as well. – via Google

It was a average day on Emerald today. We only say one tiger shark, three hammerheads and countless lemon sharks. Seriously – this is, pound for pound, the best dive in North America.

Nic was a great dive leader and shark whisperer!! Always made the group feel relaxed and excited at the same time. Dan was an outstanding deck hand helping with gear when needed, making sure we got off the boat and back on safely and made even the surface intervals loads of fun.
