This is a perfect excursion for active families. The self-guided trails and bridges are well maintained and easy to follow. Lots of birds and butterflies along the way. Amazing waterfalls. And the horseback riding up hill and lunch with views above the clouds is a great way to end a perfect outing. – via

Waiting to get in was 30 mins even though I had a ticket already. They do not do a good job of explaining the length of and steepness of this hike. My 7 year old barely made it. My 11 year old did well but it tested him. It was still with it. We did the hostel ride up. DO NOT try walking up the end. It’s a dirt road with no sun cover and very steep. Take the 4×4 or horse. Our house were fighting and biting eachother on the way up. I found it amusing. My wife was losing her mind. Kids loved the horses. Lunch after was well worth it. Great experience. First two waterfalls were magic. I did not find the loop waterfall worth the hike personally. Too tired at that point for what it was. Not a lot of room for people so I was not able to enjoy it as much as others were. – via

Such a fun hike in a beautiful setting. We did the hike and stopped at many waterfalls along the way.
Grab a walking stick before you start at the beginning of the trail. It is difficult but a nice way to spend the afternoon.
We rode horses for the last part uphill but they also have atvs and other activities around.
We bought tickets ahead of time and it came with a delicious lunch you can have before or after your hike. The portions were huge and you were able to have refreshments and arrive was really great.
Everyone was very friendly and we truly had a great day. – via

I have lived in Costa Rica for 12 years and was a travel agent for 10 of those years. I have traveled extensively all over Costa Rica and have not experienced such magic in a long time. The place is well maintained, waterfalls are spectacular, pristine river, picturesque setting and authentic cloud forest experience. I highly recommend this experience. I did the big hike and wasn’t interested in the horseback or canopy bike experience. The ascent to the top is tough but I saw an amazing rare bird called the Jacamar. Really glad I visited this place and I will be back next month with my kids! – via

The hike is mountainous, but doable in a few hours; the bridges over streams with confluences of waterfalls are superlative; the restaurant food is high quality and reasonably priced; the staff are great. Only complaint: they need to update their map (the path out to the last waterfall is now a loop) and maintain their signage (some had fallen, resulting in ambiguous pointing). It was a tiny bit confusing in a couple of places. Very highly recommend. Get up close and personal with real, pristine, jungle streams and falls. Not buggy (January). – via

The people who run and operate this tour are wonderful! Six of us were hiking, and one of us had trouble because it was extremely strenuous. We called from one of the way stations they have set up for this purpose, and they sent a guide, Randy, to assist us. He was so kind and helped my friend finish the trip, ensuring his safety, every step of the way. We will never forget how kind Randy was.
Regarding the trip itself, the views of the jungle are absolutely beautiful. I will share some pictures, but be aware that you should wear sturdy hiking shoes and be able to climb up and down very steep hills. Don’t wear flip flops as some did. If you are in good shape, it is invigorating. but this is not a casual stroll on a level surface. My Apple Watch told me that we climbed the equivalent of 100 flights of stairs. You get to see many beautiful, waterfalls, large, and small. And at the start and end of the trail, there is a beautiful lodge with stunning views of the mountains. And they serve amazing food. The cost of the food was included on our tour, but you can buy the food, independent of any tour. At the end of the trail, we rode horses back to the lodge, which was fun. The horses are very peaceful, and the ride is fairly short , so nearly anybody can do the horse ride. They also have bicycles on zip lines for people who want more adventure on the last leg.
They even have brushes and hoses to clean the mud off of your boots afterwards. They have thought of everything!
I loved the hike. – via

Very nice hike, +/- 5KM, all downhill. mountains, scenery, multiple hanging bridges and great waterfalls (4, 2 large spectacular). WE did the full package including the horse ride to come back up the 3km and the lunch. Lots of choices for the lunch, all good, fresh and plentiful. Service was perfect, from the reception to the end with the food service. I highly recommend it, being an avid hiker. Please keep in mind, muddy trail (you are in a cloud forest!), steep (so if you have a condition against downhill hiking, do not attempt this). This is not a tourist hike, it is one for moderate to advance hikers. YOU need a 4X4 to get up there, if not, choose the pic-up option from them or get a CAB! – via
