2.0/ 5

We really liked the team and the trip was professionally organised and the instructions were clear and well explained. But for those who are not experienced divers, be careful! The 100$ for 2 dives deal is only for experienced divers, if you never dived before you pay 120$ for one dive and if you want to do another dive you have to pay 50$ on top. We were a bit disappointed because the communication wasn’t clear about that before we went on our dive. We were just told about that after our first dive and would have loved to know that before we went on the boat! – via google

I wouldn’t recommend this diving center. The staff is not that friendly or welcoming, the diving instructor wasn’t very good either , he seemed to be in a rush for the tour to be over. And when we came back to the boat after the dive, there was money missing in my wallet. – via google

– via google

We had a great day diving at Mnemba. The wind picked up after our second dive and we stopped a at different dive sites to check for conditions until we found a good one for the second dive. We really appreciated that dedication to ensuring we had good conditions and a good experience. Nice snacks on the boat 🙂 – via google

Very bad experience. After a jacket break on the first dive, the “Dîve Master” gets the wrong tank on the second in addition to a faulty gauge that reads full all the time. Result, no more air after 10 minutes at the bottom and emergency ascent. A disaster – viaGoogle

I and my wife had a really bad experience with this diving company when we were in Zanzibar. Firstly, we were duped by the person, Rose, who sat at East Africa Diving’s counter in Royal Zanzibar.

We reached out to Rose on 13th July 2023 to book a snorkeling trip. To which she said there was no trip that day and there maybe a trip the other day. So she wrote down my phone number on a paper and she promised to reach out to me if there were any trips on the 14th if the weather was good. The weather on 14th was supposed to be bad, however the day turned around to be better so we reached out to her on 14th morning for a kayaking as well as snorkeling trip. We didn’t do the kayaking trip because a Royal Zanzibar member said it may not be safe to kayak. So we asked Rose whether a snorkeling trip would be possible and whether it would be safe. To which she said said she could take me for a 1.30pm trip. After repeatedly asking Rose whether it was safe to do snorkeling, she booked us for a 1.30pm trip and directed us to a shop behind Royal Zanzibar where we paid using our credit card. And unfortunately given we didn’t know any better we were not aware that she sent us to another company. From there we were driven to Muyuni beach where we were loaded into a small boat and sent off to Mnemba. However, the people never took us to Mnemba. They circled around for 1 hour in high waves and then anchored in the middle of the ocean way away from other snorkelers and we were asked to snorkel in waves of more than 4ft. The people who took us didn’t have their own gear, didn’t have proper training to help the guests, and didn’t even know how to use the life jacket. I’ve also attached a photo of the life jacket we were provided for the trip. It was basically a rescue jacket that’s not suitable for snorkeling. Additionally, we were approached by fisheries patrol, near Mnemba island, who asked us to pay $20 to snorkel. I’ve attached a photo of the patrol boat too. After this whole experience, we communicated with Delene from East Africa Diving over emails and she promised that she will refund us for the trip. It has been over 3 weeks since I provided her my bank details and I’ve followed up multiple times with her, but haven’t heard back.

All in all we had no idea about who’s who and where we were being taken. We trusted Royal Zanzibar to have done their due diligence in hiring staff that’s supposed to help guests and not make money by putting them in danger. Also, we trusted the diving company to follow-up on their promise to right the wrong. However, for whatever reason they didn’t follow-up on their promise either. I would recommend to be really careful when you book any trip through this company especially from Royal Zanzibar. – via google

I had only completed 4 dives as part of the OWD in Egypt so far and then did not dive for over a year. Yesterday and today I did my next 4 dives with East Afrika Diving and I want to thank everyone. Ali, Naomi, Banji, Deline(I hope it’s right), Michael and everyone else on the team were always there to answer any questions and since I still had some problems with the trim, I was always helped and given tips. I’ve always felt safe. It’s a great team and I would choose this diving school again at any time. I definitely don’t understand the bad reviews!
Dear EAD team, thank you for the wonderful 2 days! – via google

Met someone from East Africa Diving on a scuba diving excursion with another dive school on a shared boat who turned out to be a highly competent professional. Top!

What is not great at all, and that only goes indirectly against this diving center, that we heard a guest making racist statements (N-word included), which were accepted without a word by the other guests and the person responsible. We are glad that we decided against this diving center, not because the staff were not competent, but because we do not want to spend our free time in such an atmosphere surrounded by older Europeans (German), who at least seem privileged on vacation. – via google
