My 12 year old son and I recently took certification courses through Hamden Scuba. The experience was completely satifying. Kevin and his staff were professional, patient, and thorough in their work with us. I am particularly thankful for the extra attention they gave to my son through the course. Gaining my certification via the Hamden program at Dutch Springs turned out to be a good choice for me. I believe the full experience offered more learning opportunity (and fun) than other traditional courses. – via

I had a great time getting my open water certification with Hamden Scuba. Kevin, the leader, is as knowledgeable and experienced as they come. He has a relaxed demeanor which is sure to ease even the most nervous of students. Additionally, he does a great job at making an all-inclusive environment and making everyone feel welcome — something the diving community is all about. I left Kevin’s three day course with contacts whom I hope to stay in touch with while I continue my dive career.
Pricing wise, I am not sure how Hamden compares to other dive courses. But I do know that there were no gimmicks or hidden fees. What you sign up for is what you pay for: rental equipment, tests, etc. I’ve heard that other scuba shops aren’t as transparent with their pricing. If you do their 3-day intensive open water course, however, you should expect to pay for camping at Dutch Springs, PA.
Overall I would recommend learning to scuba and learning it with Kevin at Hamden Scuba. I’ve already suggested to friends and family to give it a try, and I suspect my tenure with Hamden is not over yet. – via

If there’s a more professional and personalized experience available than Hamden Scuba, I haven’t found it yet. The beginner can expect a safe, patient, personal introduction, at YOUR pace around YOUR schedule. No sales pressure, just sound advice on what you’d need, want, and should have.
For the experienced diver, they offer the full range of PADI options and experiences. Want something out of the ordinary, they will make it happen. Tropical location? Check, Ice Diving? Check Dive between two continents? Check. Cave diving? Check. They have it all and they are passionate about YOUR experience, not their own.
Hamden Scuba will provide you with all the experiences you want with the safety and concern you need. Give them a try. You won’t be disappointed. – via
