The shop itself was ok to say the best. Everything we ordered was out of stock and took a long time to come in. We signed up to take scuba lessons. The day we came in was in May and their ac was out. The instructor was very rude. He was condescending and actually got mad at us for asking each other questions. It took over an hour to try on our scuba gear. They made us take our own gear and bring it with us the next day. The pool we practiced in was freezing. The instructor had no patience and treated you like you should already know what you’re doing. No one wanted to ask him any questions because he made you feel like an idiot. We had 15 minutes for lunch. He even told my son that since his belt kept falling off it should be incentive to lose weight. Needless to say our group of 4 dropped the class and never showed back up. Worst experience ever. – via

DIVERS PARADISE SAVED MY VACATION! While trying to obtain our Open Water Scuba Certification we found out last minute that we were missing some pool sessions. I called the shop on a Tuesday trying to get a pool session before we left on Saturday, despite the last minute request the shop was able to accommodate our needs. Other local dive shops I called with the same request said they could not help me. I am so thankful to Dave and Rick for their help. Additionally, the prices on merchandise are very reasonable. I bought several pieces of scuba gear on Amazon just to find out that Diver’s Paradise had them at a much cheaper price. Thank you so much for filling a tall, last minute order! – via

Over this last summer I decided to get certified, I live an hour out of Houston, and after searching many dive shops, this is my experience with Divers Paradise.
First, I chose DP for my Open Water Cert. based on the cost, and have gone on to complete my Advanced and Nitrox, and in all my searching, I found they had the best pricing for all the classes.
Second, my instructors, Dave Garden and Dave Romano, are fantastic. Ive watched them both deal with students who were struggling, and their patience and knowledge of teaching really shows. Additionally, they keep it light and fun, with the right amount of seriousness. They do whatever it takes, till you “get it”, with no pressure.
For the shop itself, Rick Fast has helped sort out my purchase of used dive gear, and helped me get it rebuilt and safe to use. A friend “hooked me up” with a great deal, and I came to find out it was old, discontinued gear, from a manufacture no longer in business, but Rick had parts for it, and got me up and running fast. He continues to help me, sometimes daily, with my never ending stream of questions, and Ive come to trust him greatly, he’s a wealth of knowledge, and very generous with his time.
The Dive Masters Ray Miessler and Martin Bryant, who are commercial divers, are full of gear knowledge, funny stories, and make up the balance of a really great team of guys who are committed to making the experience of learning to dive, relaxing and enjoyable.
