(Translated by Google) We went in March aiming for diving whales.
The weather was the best, and the sea was the best, too, but was not able to meet a whale in a little more.
It was a mysterious dive where whales never stopped crying underwater. In between, I did whale watching and whale swimming.
The owner had a funny and cute female guide.
Chichijima is good, but Hahajima is good if you want to target whales❗️

Thank you so much to Kobayashi-san and Wagatsuma-san for the lovely two days of dives!!! I couldn’t book prior to arrival due to the lack of Japanese but they accepted my inquiry on the day of my arrival and fitted me right in. I really appreciated the flexibility and welcomingness. Because I arrived on the island and settled after 3pm, most places were not opened for lunch. 88 cafe at the dive center even made me a hot sandwich to tide over those hunger pangs. Such welcoming and wonderful people.
Diving conditions were pristine. The fishes and marine life were generally really not skittish at all. I’m sure it’s because there’s only one dive center on the island and they even space out groups of divers to ensure we don’t encroach the dive sites. Kobayashi san and Wagatsuma san were really knowledgeable and helpful. I’d definitely recommend the dive center if you are considering to dive one of the most pristine dive sites in Japan!
P.S. if you travel with your own gear without a DIN adaptor, do consider bringing your own. The dive shop doesn’t have any but luckily, they’ve offered me the usage of their rental gear for that. – via
