Major shout out to instructor Andy Kunig. He is truly the best of the best. Teaches a wide range of courses and has made all of my certifications a breeze to acquire, not to mention he is a blast to work with! My experiences getting certified through him have far exceeded my expectations, even with a few bumps in the road along the way (i.e., weather, bad dive conditions). Andy handles every challenge with grace and I look forward to continuing education with him. – via

I purchased two masks for snorkeling/freediving but we were talked into purchasing scuba masks instead. We were not that knowledgeable and were taken advantage of and were sold the wrong type of equipment since the store did not have what we needed. The masks are either not properly designed for the purpose (no airflow or valves) or they are just very poor quality products. It is impossible to prevent these masks from fogging up completely. I went to the store and was told they we can’t return anything that’s been used, even if it doesn’t work.. Very disappointed because I thought we were getting good advice and the products that we wanted, but the bottom line is they do not work and they are refusing to let us return them. Now I have to deal with the hassle of disputing with my credit card co. if I want to get a refund.. – via

I can’t say enough about Dive and Photo, this shop not only has a great in stock selection or can get anything you need in a timely fashion, they are knowledgeable, patient, and very easy to deal with. I have been to many other shops and have found that I keep choosing to come back to Dive and Photo. Ludek has treated me as a friend and not just a customer from day one, I chose to do my Advanced Open Water course(s) with Mike from Dive and Photo and was blown away at the time, detail, and communication that he put forth, bending over backwards to meet my schedule. Making sure that I understood and could apply my training, It has been a night and day experience from other shops that I have been to and dealt with in the past. This is why Dive and Photo is my “Home” dive shop from now on. I truly appreciate you and your crew. – via

Here is a real review about Open water Habitat, Santa Ana. My husband and I went to this shop to look for an O’Neill wet suit as they are unfortunately the only local dealer of these dive suits. But be warned!! The suit we were sold at full price was outdated at least 8 years. I questioned the zipper not being the same style and was lied to by Gary who told me that it was a “special ranger” version. I didn’t really fall for it but went ahead with the purchase as my husband really needed a new wet suit and will only use this brand. The whole way home we questioned the zipper. When we got home and unzipped it we saw the yellow firewall technology which was many seasons ago. There has since been red and now blue. We were given false information and lead to believe we were purchasing a product with new even better technology and it was really old and from seasons ago but we were charged the full price of the suits from this season.
All of this was after waiting about 15 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge that we were in the shop. And the only reason that anyone even came out is that another customer came in and walked all the way the back to drop off a tank for a fill. We were then acknowledged a few moments after he spoke with them and told that he would be right with us, and that he was filling a tank. Now, that tank came in after us and we were ready to spend $400.00+ and told that he’d be right with us… Then we had to wait another 10 minutes…
Won’t be going here again.. actually found the newest suit on Amazon for $80.00 cheaper… Doesn’t make you want to support the local dive shop… Sad…
Especially when it’s dirty and their is paperwork everywhere. Bankers boxes full with bills, etc. piled around the wet suit area. Just a real mess.
Sad… – via
