Only 2 lifts of all take pedestrians at all. Uga – lift and mountain railway Mellau. But then the hut at the top of the Uga lift is closed and you have to walk along the slope to get to the next hut. Dangerous and disliked by skiers. There are a few “winter hiking trails” that mainly go through the valley and/or are poorly prepared. For pedestrians, the beautiful Alpine panorama is not visible from below.
The bus service between Damüls and Mellau is a joke. You have to change trains 3 times to get from lift to lift and it takes almost 2 hours. In the late afternoon you can only get away from Au after a long wait. Taxis are far away and expensive. One wanted from Mellau to Damüls (14km) a whopping €85. ☹️ It’s not fun like that.

Wenn man mit dem Auto kommt und Ski fahren will, kann man hier ein schönes Urlaubsziel finden. Als Winterwanderer und auf öffentlichen Nahverkehr angewiesen ist es mühsam. Nur 2 Lifte von allen nehmen Fußgänger überhaupt mit. Uga – Lift und Bergbahn Mellau. Dafür ist dann aber die Hütte oben am Uga – Lift geschlossen und man muss an der Piste entlang, um zur nächsten Hütte zu kommen. Gefährlich und nicht gern gesehen von den Skiläufern. Es gibt ein paar “Winterwanderwege”, die gehen hauptsächlich durchs Tal und/oder sind schlecht präpariert. Für Fußgänger ist das schöne Alpenpanorama von unten aus nicht sichtbar.
Die Busverbindung zwischen Damüls und Mellau ist ein Witz. Man muss 3x umsteigen, um von Lift zu Lift zu kommen und es dauert fast 2 Stunden. Am späten Nachmittag kommt man von Au nur mit viel Wartezeit wieder weg. Taxis gibt es nur weit weg und teuer. Einer wollte von Mellau nach Damüls (14km) schlappe 85€. ☹️ Macht keinen Spaß so. – via
