When snorkeling we were also forced to wear yellow inflated life jackets. Of course, snorkeling was only possible to a limited extent. It wasn’t particularly windy or dangerous that day either. I also have a diving license and can swim well.
When snorkeling, you have to swim after the guide and can’t even linger to look at something.
In general, the snorkeling reefs at Cozumel are rather sad to look at, hardly any fish and unfortunately only colorless corals.

Wir haben bei cozumel tours eine schnorcheltour gebucht, die dann vom anbieter chac choc tours durchgeführt wurde. Mit der tour waren wir leider nicht zufrieden. Zudem war es auch doppelt so teuer über cozumel tours zu buchen, die anderen gäste haben zum teil wohl nur die hälfte gezahlt.
Wir sind die längste zeit der schnorcheltour rungefahren und haben an verschiedenen spots hotelgäste eingesammelt und aussteigen lassen.
Warum ich aber nur einen stern gebe: einer der guides macht bei den schnorchelgängen fotos der gäste (diese fotos kosten dann 60 USD (!)) und damit er tolle fotos schießen kann füttert er die fische unter wasser. Dann sind natürlich alle fische bei ihm und keine mehr bei den anderen schnorchlern. Dazu wird einem dann noch erzählt, dass man ja nichts anfassen soll um ja nicht in die natur einzugreifen – fische füttern scheint aber voll okay zu sein 😉
Beim schnorcheln wurden wir auch genötigt gelbe aufgeblasene rettungswesten zu tragen. Damit war schnorcheln natürlich auch nur bedingt möglich. Es war auch nicht besonders windig oder gefährlich an dem tag. Zudem ich auch einen tauchschein habe und gut schwimmen kann.
Beim schnorcheln selbst muss man dann dem guide hinterherschwimmen und kann nicht mal kurz verweilen um sich etwas anzusehen.
Generell sind die schnorchelriffs bei cozumel aber eher traurig anzusehen, kaum fische und nur farblose korallen leider. – via
