– via

Despite many positive reviews my experience with Deep South Divers was a complete opposite and the least client-focused diving center I’ve encountered so far and I have dived in many places in the world on 6 different continents.
I dived with Deep South Divers back in December 2022. At first they seemed to be professional and friendly but the diving experience with them turned out to be far from that. Where to start :
– complete no respect of client’s time – I was told to come to the center at 9 AM and we were supposed to start diving shortly after ( I already had all my equipment ready from the evening before). My dive didn’t start till almost 10 30. I literally waited 1 hour 15 mins doing absolutely nothing. I was told to talk to the owner about other dives in meantime, but he had never time as he was on the call (however my time was nothing precious for them). The cherry on the top was when one of the diving instructors said at 10:15 – “sorry but I still need to drink my tea”
– trying to save up money on small things while not caring about diver’s safety and comfort – instead of arranging for us a small inflatable boat that they own to get to the sea we had to swim ahead with all our equipment for about 15 mins one way ( the boat would be just 30 secs and it was there at the shore!). As the result one of the diver’s oxygen finished up quite fast and we had to all go back. The dive instructor gave oxygen to the diver, and they rushed to the shore, I couldn’t follow their pace, so I ended up being alone (seriously? Was so hard to send a boat for us?)
– absolute no pro-client attitude – I arranged a second dive with them ( only cause I really wanted to do a shark dive + it was cheaper with the package and I wanted to give a chance). Mohammed the dive instructor didn’t want to pick me up from my lodge ( it was a 3 mins drive from the dive center ) as a result I had to walk at night alone for about 15-20 mins ( we set a meeting at 5 AM) to the dive center and I had to wait next 20 mins! Mohammed was late and he didn’t even apologize to me! I was there waiting alone by the closed diving center and complete no contact from his side.
– cherry on the top ? The shark dive was the highlight of my trip and I’m aware of the fact it’s nature and it can’t be guaranteed. However at the end of our dive we spotted the Longimanus. Three divers were already at the boat, I was grabbing the ladder and passing over my fins and gopro. Mohammed was at the water and he didn’t give us any tips what we shall do he stayed to dive with the shark. So I also came back to the water wearing only one fin cause I really wanted to dive with it. I dived though for a very short time cause Mohammed showed me underwater to get back on the boat (I was making too much movement with one fin). I was sure he will come back on the deck and tell us all to get our equipment and dive with the shark. Nothing like that has happened. One diver who was with another instructor got to the water again (lucky him) but the rest – 3 of us we were taken this chance away. Mohammed came back happy that he dived and took nice videos and told us that we are moving to another site. I was shocked! We just encountered Longimanius and we couldn’t even dive with it although the dive was all about it! We didn’t se any e shark on a second dive. I asked Moahmmed the next day to send me shark videos. He sent me a few pics but he had so much more of them so I offered to come to the dive center with my hardrive to get them. He refused saying he is busy but he PROMISED to send them to me within two weeks. Nothing like that happened though cause he deleted them.
That shouldn’t surprise me though with all of DEEP SOUTH DIVERS experience.
The worst diving center experience I’ve had. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone and I’m surprised they have so many positive reviews. – via

Whilst on a 2 week holiday to Marsa Alam my girlfriend and I spent 7 days diving with Colona Marsa Alam. The staff were knowledgeable, but more importantly they were enthusiastic about the marine life and demonstrated that to us both above and below the water. Diving is so much more fun when a dive guide has an infectious enthusiasm for the environment, flora and fauna. The diving is exceptional; we only managed to do local dive sites but the coral gardens are in fantastic condition.
My girlfriend completed her Advanced Open water course with Colona Divers and thoroughly enjoyed herself. The prices are very reasonable, particularly if you book from home prior to your holiday. Their email communication whilst I was organising our diving was prompt and helpful. They also only ask for a small deposit, after which you can do as much or as little diving as you like. This was great for us as we had no idea before we left how many days we would want to be diving, and other dive centres seemed to want to sell you a package of a number of days diving before we left.
The boat crew provided great food for lunch and for us was the best food we had throughout our holiday.

My wife and I have dived with Colona for a few years now.
We have always been extremely well looked after by everyone on the boat.
The staff are very knowledgeable and helpfull.
Always small groups for diving and plenty of time to observe the amazing marine life.
Highly recommended. A very professional dive company. – via
