DO NOT GO HERE! ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE LGBTQ OR NON BINARY/TRANS OR INEXPERIENCED DIVER!
To start the day we came over an hour early and when we arrived and recieved directions for parking they were very unclear and it took us 30 min trying to communicate with the parking lot attendent and the scuba shop to find where we should go. We still arrived early and checked in, however we were given no further instructions or guidance or gear until we asked. There was no assistance or checking on our gear for fit, safety, and function. We were told more about the historical geological aspects of the site but close to none on the actual overal plan for our nultiple dives, boat times, and logistics of the day including when we had time to eat throughout the long day. Staff at first seemed welcoming, however as we were waiting to be instructed the first signs of unprofessionalism appeared. Multiple staff pointed, stared, and blatantly whispered to one another while pointing at me and indicating on themselves where I have body hair (I am a woman). This made both me and my partner feel targeted, uncomfortable, judged, and unsafe. I would say this behavior even included the male captain who led the second dive. As we were waiting after our second dive in the middle of the bay, we were given no reason for our stop or estimated time to return, and this is where I saw the most inappropriate behavior. This was my partners first handful of open water dives (they know our certification level), there was no precheck at the surface to ensure we were ready to decend, the dive guide was the first down and left us at the surface because my partner was having an issue with her equipment, we decended and showed the guide her tank and bcd were leaking air and were brushed off with no concern or reassurance on their part. Overall this experience was tainted by the unprofessional behavior and rude staff members and we would not return or recommend this establishment especially for those who are nonconforming or different in their appearance. I understand cultural differences however the level of disrespect we were shown was unjustified.
The staff is in dire need of training for professional behavior, proactive service, safety instructions, communication and professionalism between staff when in front of customers. The staff seemed to think and act as if this was their holiday.
Thank God the dives were shallow and yes terrible. – via
