Medewi is a serene place with great surf spots. Note that besides sightseeing and connecting with people, tourists and locals, there is not all too much to do in Medewi (so, not much to distract you if you’re keen on progress) – unless you or others at the camp have the motivation to spark things up on your own! The camp itself is amazing. The staff and surf guides / instructors are more than willing to make your stay as comfortable and the learning as valuable as can be 🙂 The atmosphere, food and pool are welcoming and the weather quite cool, not so humid as one might think of Indonesia. A small downside was that a few things need a fixer upper since the long shutdown during covid. Such as the terrace at the beach which I hope soon will live up to its potential 🙂 – via

Great little surf camp on the beach, nestled between peaceful rice fields.

I came here looking for a quiet surf retreat after surfing more crowded areas in Canggu & Uluwatu. It was totally perfect for that. Each day I had 2 serious surf sessions (starting at 6am), with a lot of time to chill & relax between.

The Medewi wave is excellent and I had very helpful instruction from the surf guides, including a video session. It was here I finally ascended from decent beginner to basic intermediate, and was able to use all the coaching the catch the best waves of my life.

(You can also buy your photos & videos from a handful of photographers on the beach, which was super cool)

The kitchen staff was awesome and always kept me well fed & hydrated. Free transportation from and to the airport area was amazing. The room was clean with a hot shower & cold AC. Overall price was an excellent value.

Met a bunch of cool people at the camp, who I’ll hopefully see all around the world some day. Thanks for a great experience Brown Sugar, I plan to return! – via

We had a great stay at Brown Sugar. The place is really nice. It was not fully booked and therefore quiet, but this was fine for us. Our room was spacious and new. We loved it, especially the open bathroom. Some rooms needed a renovation, but they were already working on it.

The surf was also very good and the teachers and Staff were great! Thank you guys.

I spent 10 days in August and Medewi is great as it’s away from the busy Denpasar.

I liked the Surfcamp and the staff was great, amazing food from the kitchen and lovely bungalow close to the point break.

They were sort of just reopening after that long Covid period so they are a few things that could have been better like some activités beside surf (yoga, pool,ping pong …) but the owner told me this will be coming shortly. Price is good for what you get. But as I can now compare with another surf camp, I will say that it’s more surf guiding rather than surf lessons.
