We had a great time surfing at the Bongkas Surf School. Three of our group of five were surfing for the first time and we were all able to stand on the board by the end of our lesson. Our two guides were very patient and knowledgeable and helped us find the right waves and push our boards so we were able to get up.They also helped us get past the breaks of the waves when swimming out on our boards, especially when there were big waves crashing. We went in January and the weather was fine, although it did rain later on the afternoon, and because it was low season there were fewer people out surfing. We would definitely recommend this lesson to anyone who is just learning how to surf! – via

My favourite spot on Gili T! Having come here now for 12 years, I always hang out at my favourite beach with friends who I call family – Bongkas! The guys run a fantastic surf school for anyone who wants to surf. If you aren’t keen to surf, it’s a great spot to chill on the beach and enjoy the comfy bean bags. Everyone is welcome. I really enjoyed the surf lesson! They were flexible and the instructor was good! I paid for 1,5h, in the end the lesson lasted 2h! The only minus was that they didn’t have the shoes. – via

We had such a good and fun time with Bongkas surfschool! The instructors are friendly, professional and know exactly what they’re doing. My friend and I are beginners and were already able to stand up and catch some waves thanks to their help. Best experience in Gili, would higly recommend! – via
