Had an amazing time at Blackbird Caye Resort. The food was absolutely delicious. If you are a picky eater I recommend trying food you don’t think you would like because it might just surprise you. The chef was also great accommodating those with restrictions whether gluten free or dairy free. The plating was great!! The staff was entertaining. Bartender George with his magic tricks, the dive crew Abuelito and Simon were the picture duo of knowledge and humor. The diving itself was awesome!! The level of service was amazing! The housekeeping was great and prob the most under recognized. The grounds grew keeping the place looking great! – via

This was my third time here. The diving is awesome! The rooms are great! The kitchen and bar staff are so friendly and attentive. They couldn’t do more for us. Kurt, the kitchen manager is awesome and always came by to say hello. I give only four stars because of the dive staff and the crowded boats. My BCD has (had) two tank straps. One was broken off and I’m guessing when the tank and bcd setup was thrown into the tank holders on the boat. This can happen but nothing was said. I saw when I got back home that it is indeed broken. The BCD still works but only has one strap now when it was designed to have two. The boats are great but it was overcrowded. Some dives we had 8 divers to a dive master. They need another boat and more dive masters to take that many people out. That said, Ed, who runs the dive shop was great and always found things for us, I wish we had him for the second week also, not just the first. – via

Blackbird Caye Resort Is still a great place to visit! It was not too different from when we were there in 2013, but they have replaced the oldest cabanas with some beautiful villas and are currently doing some updates to the mid-priced units. Cabanas are all so nice and both they and the grounds are well-tended. The Belizean family who built it still owns it, I believe.
The guides are still great (Thank you, Carlos!) and there are so many good places to snorkel within just a few minutes. The trip out to Lighthouse Reef and the Blue Hole is well worth the trip and not just for divers. The last half of the week got pretty windy and both divers and snorklers had some changes to activities, but no one complained. The lagoon side offers quieter waters for kayaking and the divers headed west to get out of the wind for their last dives.
The food is still excellent and gets better with each day. Being in season, we had conch soup and ended the week with freshly caught lobster and filet mignon. The portions were far too much for us, even with two snorkel trips per day! Plating was beautiful and they do an amazing job of having really fresh vegetables and fruits every day.
WiFi worked where they said it would, and better than it usually does when the wind hits (according to staff). – via

Great time. We saw so many creatures. A friend of mine got Open Water certified there with Instructor Karim and had a great experience. Several of us also got our nitrox certs, which made the 3 dives/day a blast rather than exhausting. At the time Blackbird didn’t have full length wetsuits available, only shorties, which was rough after the 4th day for a female with low body fat like myself, but Blackbird said they would plan to add full-length wetsuits for rent in the future.
Our divemaster was Emmanuel, and he took us to see so much amazing sea life, as well as being very knowledgeable about the local atoll. My favs were probably diving with nurse and reef sharks and seeing three baby squids on the night dive.
The service was solid; the staff was always willing to accommodate and fix things if any problems arose. Our boat crews, divemasters, and island managers all remembered our names, and the divemasters and boat captain Elroy especially made us feel very welcome.
On food, the quality was good to great; however, several of our party had gluten and dairy restrictions, which although the cooks always made an effort to accommodate, there were multiple times when the wait staff told us something didn’t have gluten/dairy which actually did, likely due to miscommunication in the kitchen.
The wifi also went out a couple days into the trip, which was pretty frustrating since I needed to get in touch with a new pet sitter who was starting midweek, but the staff told us it may have been an issue with the fiber on the mainland of Belize.
The Blue Hole was very cool: sheer deep wall with massive stalactites below ~120 ft. The only wildlife inside was a bit of algae growing on the walls due to there being no current inside, but it’s still very much worth doing once. – via

We had an amazing trip at Blackbird Caye Resort. The staff is well-organized, the rooms are impeccable, the food is delicious, the setting is beautiful, and the diving is fantastic. I got my Open Water certification at Blackbird and the instructors were great. I felt comfortable and supported throughout the course and well-equipped for the post-course diving. We loved the Saturday to Saturday format because it meant everyone staying on the island was on the same page – it led to a nice group vibe. It easy to coordinate with the pick up team from the airport to the boat transfer. Would highly recommend Blackbird and would come back! – via

My husband and I had the pleasure of experiencing this amazing resort in May 2022 and there are no words to describe just how wonderful the experience was for us. The island is stunning, the food is fantastic, the diving is just, wow! Most of all though, the people who work to ensure you have a great experience were the best part of our visit and made us definitely want to return… So excited to go back in April 2023! – via

Do NOT book with this resort! My wife and I had our 20th anniversary scheduled for one year in advance. Just recently they contacted us and informed us that they “changed” their policy and we needed to stay for a full week as opposed to the 4 nights we had paid for. They said it was due to transportation to and from the mainland. They would NOT honor our 50% paid for reservation. The staff member on the phone was very kind, however the correct thing to do in this case was/is to honor reservations and institute a date that the policy would be in effect. NOT cancel existing reservations. DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS RESORT…BOYCOTT. – via
