We booked a two day Halong Bay through Origin Vietnam. The communication in English (with Ngoc Cam) went smoothly: we were informed in time about the schedule and the time we were picked up.
We give one star deduction for the following reason: actually we also wanted to book a three-day Mekong Delta tour through Origin Vietnam, with overnight stay on the boat/ship. We got an offer with overnight stay on land, with the explanation that cruise ships did not yet start due to Covid. When we asked again for a simpler overnight stay (e.g. on a fisher boat), we were told that it was not safe, say not possible. After our own research (which we tried to avoid, reason why we wanted to book through an agency), we found out that there are again some cruise ships (e. g. Mekong Eyes) that go, as well as private tours on small boats (e.g. Song Xhan Sampan Cruise) with overnight stays are offered. The price for the private tour we found was even slightly lower than the tour suggested by Origin Vietnam. When I reported this to Origin Vietnam, we got no real answer or apology. So be careful when they tell you “this does not exist/is not possible” and in that case maybe ask a second agency to be sure you get the best offer that suits you. – via
