We’ve been diving with Bahia for the past week. My husband and I have over 1,000 dives each and we both worked at a dive shop for several years. I say that for context only because I have to say this is one of the safest, friendliest and most professional shops I’ve ever had the pleasure of diving with!

Definitely not a “churn and burn” dive mill, like I’ve seen other places, it’s a smaller operation and they spend one on one time with everyone.

They took us around for some great dives,
pointed us to some beautiful reefs to dive on our own, the staff were super helpful, extremely friendly and their equipment was very well maintained.

We were diving with our teenage sons as well, had an amazing vacation and we definitely will be back to dive with Bahia again! – via

Medically unfit to dive? Seriously? What a rich fantasy! It’s funny how they are now lying, covering their unprofessional staff, and coming up with false excuses to offset negative review. Well, it just proves my point: this is a dive shop to avoid if you care about your safety!

I am an experienced diver with over a 100 dives under my belt, so I can certainly compare this dive shop with other dive operators incl. local ones: I was diving with many dive shops in Curacao in my multiple visits to the island. I have never seen such unprofessional staff and such a rude attitude as in Bahia. I was totally shocked. Wasted a day of diving and my precious vacation time. A place to avoid by all means. – via

Our family stayed in the 3 bedroom unit. The unit was clean and the location was perfect. Access to the dive shop was fantastic and the diving off the beach was great. We only ate at the restaurant once as we were trying to keep the costs down – enjoyed it. There is only A/C in the bedrooms and they do charge for the electricity. We would turn them on a few minutes before bed and it would cool down the rooms quickly. – via

Bahia Apartments & Diving ligt aan de baai van Lagun in de buurt van Westpunt. Dit is de rustige kant van Curaçao. Verwacht hier geen restaurants, kroegen, casino’s en volle boulevards. Hier kom je voor de rust, even ontsnappen aan de massa en voor de natuur onder en boven water.

Wij hadden een driekamerappartement gehuurd in het nieuwe gedeelte en dat was perfect. Een nieuw appartement met alle faciliteiten, een mooi balkon met zitjes vlak boven de duikschool en om de hoek van de receptie. Even de trap af, een hoekje om en dan sta je op het strand van Lagun waar gratis ligstoelen klaarstaan voor de gasten. Een heerlijk strand in een prachtige baai waar je leuk kunt snorkelen en fantastisch kunt duiken met de professionele duikschool die aan Bahia verbonden is. Voor ons biedt Bahia Apartments & Diving alles waar we naar op zoek zijn voor een vakantie: een rustige omgeving, een prachtige baai, ver van het massatoerisme, een uitstekend appartement met een eigen keuken zodat we zelfvoorzienend kunnen zijn, een prima restaurant binnen het complex en één om de hoek voor als we even niet zelfvoorzienend willen zijn, een eigen duikschool met leuke en professionele instructeurs waar je goed materiaal kunt huren, vriendelijk personeel en eigenaren die écht voor service gaan.

Wat ik heel bijzonder vind is dat Bahia tijdens een black-out gewoon stroom en wifi had omdat er een grote CAT-generator op het terrein staat die automatisch start als de elektriciteit uitvalt. Dat is een enorme investering die een eigenaar doet voor het comfort van de gasten. Dat zijn we nog extra gaan waarderen toen we later verhalen hoorden van mensen die bij het licht van hun telefoon moesten eten of restaurants die niet konden koken vanwege de black-out. Als een eigenaar hierin investeert zegt het iets over de service, betrokkenheid en hospitality van het bedrijf. Dit is geen resort van een grote keten maar een van een betrokken ondernemer. En dat voel je.

Dit was de tweede keer dat we Bahia Apartments hebben bezocht en ik weet zeker dat we weer terugkomen. – via
