This ATV company was a delight to rent from. The staff is friendly and likes to make conversation. Before the ride, they tell you how to operate the ATV thoroughly. Additionally, during the trip you get to take a break at a lovely beach and have some drinks. Definitely give them a visit if you go to Tamarindo! – via

Our family visits Costa Rica with friends and the one activity we enjoy is the ATV ride. It’s a great way to get out and see parts of the country that we don’t normally see. The first, ever “tour” was with this outfit and we went on a dusty road, then on paved roads and ended up on a beach and were obligated to purchase low alcohol, over-priced drinks. It was fun, but we had not tried any other “tours” and had nothing to compare it to.
We booked with another atv tour place and found out how amazing the countryside surrounding Tamarindo is. We had a jungle tour down narrow paths that are only for horses and ATV’s and saw wildlife and fauna that overwhelmed our senses. We had a mountain tour that takes the rider up and down roads that border farms, resorts and hotels and leads to a view of Tamarindo and the surrounding beaches that was breathtaking. Not only was the view amazing, there are hundreds of howler monkeys that are in the trees that contribute to that true experience.
Not our first atv ride. Not our first tour. Not our first time with this operator. We were explicit on what we wanted to do, where we wanted to go. We didn’t want the first ride we took as a family that we knew how mundane it actually is now we had comparisons. We wanted the wild ride up the mountain with the view to sing Happy Birthday to our son.
We met Gustavo and told him what we wanted, verified he understood, and asked how much. He asked, “two or three hours?” We thought two was best so we would have time for all of the other things we had that day. The owner and Gustavo both were into our plans for our son and said they would make it special……
Special? Even after we told him of the mistake when we reached our stop at the beach, he showed only anger. In fact, his main concern was slowing down to look at girls who he liked the view of their derrière and making certain he would be able to view as many as possible not attempts at salvaging the tour. Instead of entering the atv spot from the night market side, he chose to drive us through bumper to bumper traffic (atv’s get very hot when idling) past the monkey bar, surf shop, diria and bathed chicks galore, and just when I thought this couldn’t be any worse, around the circle at the end with the Tamarindo sign. He should have named this tour the “get the single guy a date” tour. Instead of howler monkeys and breathtaking views, we got furniture stores, traffic jams and dust.
I feel bad for this place. The owner is not well and he’s allowing temperamental small men who are more interested in his view and experience than those in his tour. We won’t ever use this place again, and I recommend you avoid it, too, unless you think a tour of fenced in bulls, a pig and slow moving traffic are what make up a great atv tour. – via

Two stars because I’m giving them credit for past tours that went well. But this place has gone downhill. Our last trip with them was anything but an adventure in beautiful Costa Rica. Instead, it was a two-hour drive to the beach. Worst part, we asked for the mountain/jungle tour. They said they had us covered. Then we got a two hour ride down rutted, dusty roads to go to a beach we didn’t want to see for 15 mins, pay for some overpriced drinks, and our guide micromanaged every ounce out of joy out of the ride. Not that there was much to begin with, but this guy somehow found a way to find, and kill, even that little bit. At the end of the tour, when we confronted the owner about the bait-and-switch, he essentially shrugged his shoulders and blew us off. Avoid these guys! – via
